Photos of La Hacienda de San Angel -- tarps are down!

Soft opening is rumored to be 9/15. We'll be there that day, but have ADRs at Nine Dragons. I still hope to visit Mexico and check it out! I think I hear a margarita calling my name.......

Thanks for the photos!

Yep -- ADRs can be made after october 15th, but they're not up in the Disney system yet. Soft openings are projected to be happending after "mid-sept." I've heard the 15th and the 24th.

Thanks for the info and pictures! We'll be there in Oct., so hope to snag a ressie:yay:

thanks so much for sharing pictures. looking forward to eating here. :thumbsup2

From the blog post last week (I still haven't had the time to update my FAQ :(), Hacienda opening should be 15 or 16 Sept and as mentioned reservation dates will start 15 Oct (I'm guessing that the system will start for reservations shortly after opening, in the same style as Via Napoli).

For Cantina (the CS), it's likely to open at the same time, however there won't really be need for a "soft" opening like Hacienda, since there are no reservations anyway.

So, I'm confused ... I know, to hard to believe! Can someone clarify the Mexico pavilion dining situation for me...

I have an ADR form the first week in February 2011 for "The San Angel Inn". Made this several weeks ago online. What is opening in the next couple weeks and accepting reservations starting Oct 15th? Are there going to be two TS restaurants and a CS in the Mexico pavilion? Dining in Mexico is particular request of a member of our party and I want to get it right. Thanks in advance!

Yep, there will be 2 TS and 1 CS at Mexico. (Though technically only 1 TS "in" the pavillion, but that's nitpicky semantics ;))

San Angel Inn is the TS location INSIDE the pavillion. This will remain unchanged.

Hacienda de San Angel will be the TS location across the "street" from the main pavillion (along the water). This is where the old Cantina (CS) used to be. This TS location will only be open for dinner.

Cantina de San Angel will be the CS location also across the "street" from the main pavillion. It will be housed in the same building as Hacienda and, in fact, use part of the Hacienda dining room for seating during lunch hours.

Hacienda is opening (and Cantina is reopening) around 15 Sept. The reservations for Hacienda will start for dates starting 15 Oct sometime around the same time it opens.

Thank you, Cafeen! That's great to know!! (Sad I won't be there for the opening day, but I'll be there shortly after!)

Thank you so much for keeping up your awesome FAQ on these as well! :cheer2:

Thank you, thank you for the clarification, Cafeen. Now I'm stuck with the decision: stick with San Angel or try for Hacienda when ADR become available....

Looks great. I am going to try to get a ressie for our trip in November.

Does anyone else think that the roof line will interfere with the viewing of Illuminations? I'm thinking everyone will be up against the rail. I'd be very peeved if I had a seat in the gazebo area and then had 100 people crowding in to watch the fireworks .... hmmmm

I have a question about the new restaurant and Illuminations. I'm confused (not unusual :-)). At one point I thought the outside dining area was only for the Cantina CS guests but in reading some comments I'm thinking that maybe there's a section (the gazebo that juts out into the water?) that will be outside TS seating for La Hacienda. Do I have this right?

I have a reservation at R&C for Illuminations but my family would much prefer Mexican food. I'm just not sure how Illuminations viewing will be for the new TS restaurant. Anyone have info or insight?

Thanks!

Kira

I don't think it is known yet what areas, if any, will be for outside reserved dining. La Hacienda may totally be inside reserved dining ... not sure.

I'd stick with San Angel, it's a really cool restaurant IMHO(except for the canned salsa).

So will I :). Although I did have to scrap SAI on 23 Sept for Maya Grill (Mom coming in and she won't have a park ticket for that day). Rebooked SAI for lunch on 30 Sept, which is the day that I aim for Hacienda for dinner. At least it'll be a good "side-by-side" comparison ;). (And, with the amount that I eat at two of the little Mexican restaurants in town, 2 meals in the same day is not going to be an issue at all :lmao:)

Easy. Do both ;)

I'd say keep the reservation for SAI for now. Once they open up for HSA (Yes, I'm starting the abbreviation!) then grab one for a time that works for you. Follow the reviews and use them to help you decide :).
