Help me out here.....what is the best way to get a photograph of fish in a tank?? All I ever get is the flash bouncing off the glass, and the "oh yeah, that might be a fish"!!

We have a 5MP 5X Zoom Minolta digital camera. Thanks for any thoughts.

Press your camera right on the glass.

Or as close to it as you can.

I volunteer at the Aquarium in New Orleans and have found that if you hold the camera at an angle, you won't get the flash bouce back. When I take pictures of visitors, I always kneel down and hold the camera upwards and the pictures alway come out.

Agreed anytime you are taling through water or glass angle the camera it works great. Here are the manatees at Living Seas

I use manual mode and bump up the ISO if necessary and use no flash. Think about how thick that glass is. There is very little chance that any of your flash light will make it through to the subject and then back through the glass to your camera. I have had very good results at The Living Seas and at the Newport Aquarium near Cincinnati.

You would probably still need a flash if you are taking a pic of people in front of the glass. If your camera has a night portrait mode, that may work well for this situation, but I have never tried.

A friend told me she was taught that if your camera has preset settings and one is landcape, set your camera on that and turn off the flash and then get close to the glass.. I have tried this seveal times and all the pictures have come out great.

I've been able to get aquarium photos, just make sure flash is off.
