Well, we arrive this Saturday for a week at The World and for the first time we will be using the Photopass (pre-ordered the CD):woohoo:

I've read through the guides, etc. but just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks for really getting the best out of it and/or any advice so that we don't feel like we are just running around hunting down photographers :lmao:

Just go wherever you would normally go and if you see a photographer and want a picture, you can get one. There are the big shots, like in front of the castle, tree of life, epcot ball, etc. But there are a ton of them all over the place. When I've gone with friends with kids, most of the pictures hav been at character meetings though.

Did you see the guide on stitchkingdom.com? I think that is a great one. We really just keep our eyes open and stop when we see a photographer. There were magic shots that we wanted so we did look specifically in those areas. We usually had to ask for those, they were not offered very often.

Ask the photographers if they can do magic shots. We particularly like the one in Adventureland by Pirates of the Caribbean. The photographers at the character meet and greets vary--some do a lot of candids plus the group pose, and others just do the pose.

Get as many pictures as possible.

My wife and I always do individual pictures and pictures together. We figure we have been waiting for just as long as everyone else and we are definitely buying the photo CD so we fill it up as much as we can.

This year we had over 700 pictures on our CD from 10 days. In the past we have had 900 and over 1200 for longer trips. And that is before editing them.

My advise is simple, yet some I forgot to follow this past trip-If you see one, and think you want a shot there STOP THEN do not pass it by and say we will come back to that one if there is a wait. I am totally kicking myself because I did that this trip to keep the whining of my kids down and there are several shots I never went back for, particularly at MNSSHP.

Tell the photographer you are getting the CD (especially at character greetings). They'll often take MANY more pics. I noticed them taking 3-4 pics for the group ahead of us, and 10-12 for us!

If you see a photographer WITHOUT a tri-pod, ask if they do "anything special" this will generally get you a magic shot if it's available.

Check your photos before you leave! You can go on the photopass site from your hotel room (assuming you have a laptop) for free (won't be charged the 9.95/24hr fee). I did this most nights and if I noticed photos were missing I was able to drop in the camera center at Epcot and the 2 times photos were missing they were able to hunt them down right there with no problems. When we got home there was one other shot missing and when I submitted a request to find it I got the "error with the photo, cannot recover your pictures" message - perhaps that was really the case but I would have preferred looking for them with someone and knowing they actually were bad pics.

If the photographer offers to take a shot with your camera, which they often do, don't hesitate to say YES and hand it over. Or, if it's not a whole family/whole group shot, be sure to take a few of your own photos.

Although we love Photopass and pre-purchase the CD every trip, the reality is that sometimes some photos don't make it -- they just disappear into the ether. They will search for you if a certain photo you know was taken by a PP photographer is missing if you have all the details -- exact location, time, description of what people in photo were wearing -- but every now and again we've had a glitch in the system where a photo we know was taken just doesn't show up in our set.

SO -- we always get a back-up shot on our camera OR I take a couple of shots myself from the side.

And I agree with the others who say that the beauty is just seeing those PP photographers and having some photos snapped; doesn't have to be a big deal or take up any extra time on your part. Enjoy!
