I got accepted as Photopass Photographer today!!! Yayyy!!!

That is SO exciting.

That is my "second" choice (next to Character Performer).

I would LOVE it! And the pay rate is amazing! I am getting that up here in MA doing 2 jobs I don't really love...but being in DISNEY and getting paid that!?!? AHHHH!!!

Congrats! Photopass was my number 1 pick but I guess with my experience with working at an amusement park got me in attractions. I wasn't asked a single question about photopass in my interview.

I was a cp spring 09 and extended through the Summer and transferred to Photopass, and had the time of my life! You will meet some amazing people and make some magical memories for guests.

I would love to be a photopass photographer. It seems like such a fun role and I love to take pictures. I don't really have much experience, but I am taking a photography class right now, don't know if that would really be enough. Anyone who has done this role before, could you share your experience with us?

Photopass was actually my third choice after Performer and Character Attendant, but I answered my question about Attendant poorly, so she moved on quickly, haha.

I told her that I take a ton of pictures all the time. That I took 1700 pictures when we went to Disney a few years ago for a week. Then I was proactive and said "I think you guys use Digital SLR's, right?" then I went in to how I used my friend's SLR while I was in New York for two weeks in March and I mentioned how I'm the official photographer for work events and how I manage our website gallery. Then she asked how I would upsell the photopass merchandise (mugs, tshirts, etc) and I talked about how they are higher quality pictures and other benefits of having photopass pictures (everyone is in the picture, etc) and how its a one time opportunity to have merchandise with those memories on them.

So I dont have solid photography experience, like I've never taken a class or anything, I think I was just familiar enough with the benefits of photopass and I took initiative in expanding my answers before I was asked to.

I may have just been lucky but I'm super excited about this opportunity!

Damn. Either way you're lucky, I've heard it's very hard to be a photopass photographer even for fulltime castmembers. It was my first choice last time and I didn't get it. I haven't heard anything back yet for this time though so fingers crossed! 2 weeks 4 days. Oi.

You should definitely still try to get photopass!

Dont focus on the experience that you dont have. Be confident in what you already know. If you say "I only took a class for one semester but I like to take pictures of my friends" its not going to come off as well as "I have 5 months of professional instruction so far, in addition to my personal interest and ambition of capturing well constructed shots in every day life". Think back to if you've ever had professional experience. Has a school newspaper ever used your photos? Or an online travel guide. Or do you have a large flickr following or a photojournalism blog? Its all in how you say it and how you feel about it. If you really believe in your ability, take pride in it and show the world what you already know you can do.
