Very interesting. Just reading on the PhotoPass Facebook page about this new feature they started offering today. It has all the same features of the original PhotoCD, plus you get as many on-ride photos and dining event photos as you want for a 14-day period for the one price. Price is $199.95. (You just show a special PhotoPass+ card and you don't have to pay to get your pictures at the ride or show.)

I've never been willing to pay the price they wanted for the on-ride photos. I think I've bought maybe a grand total of one or two over all the years we've been going. And I don't know that I've ever bought one of the photo packages they bring around to your table to try to sell you at a character meal. But if I can get as many of them as I want for $50, it doesn't sound like too bad of a deal.

Participating Attractions:
  • Space Mountain
  • Splash Mountain
  • Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
  • Rock ‘n Roller Coaster
  • Expedition Everest
  • Dinosaur

  • 1900 Park Fare
  • Ohana (Breakfast only)
  • Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show
  • Chef Mickey’s
  • Cinderella’s Royal Table
  • Tusker House Restaurant (Breakfast only)
  • Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue
  • Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
Disney PhotoPass+ Includes:
  • PhotoPass+ Card and Lanyard
  • A gallery CD with over 400 stock photos
  • A unique code to create and order a PhotoCD with all your photos online at
  • DisneyPhotoPass.com
  • Print Packages at select Dining locations
  • Digital Downloads of select Attractions

If you've already purchased a pre-paid PhotoCD, they'll let you upgrade, but you lose the discount. You have to pay the full difference between the $199.95 and what you paid for your pre-paid PhotoCD.

Someone has asked the question if there will be a DVC or Annual Pass discount, but it hasn't been answered yet. LOL, I'm not going to hold my breath.

I think it's great that they're offering new PhotoPass options. I'm still holding out hope that they'll offer a PhotoPass Annual Pass some day for those of us (like DVC members) who make multiple trips per year. 365 days of free PhotoPass downloads. I guess they'd have to find a way to prevent people from sharing their download privileges with every Tom, Dick, and Harry.

My husband and I were reading the details of photopass+ last night. Not sure if it's something we'd do on this trip. Of all the restaurants that include photos we are only eating at chef mickeys. We will be doing child swap for all the big rides so not sure. maybe 2013? :confused3 If a DVC discount came out by then that would be awesome. :thumbsup2

I don't think this is something that appeals to us, either. We do a photopass for each trip, but we buy the pre-purchase photopass at the discounted rate of $99, so $199 is a big jump in price. We don't go to most of the restaurants or dining events on the list and we don't ride many of the big rides yet (DS5 is not quite tall enough). Plus, I have not been that impressed with the quality of the photos on the rides.

It would be more appealing if it included a free book or calendar, or if there was a discount on photopass products. They should also develop photo ops at some of the other TS dining establishments. It would be very appealing if the Photopass+ card got you priority positioning for character spot photos. Kind of like a super FP for photopass! With that advantage, I might be willing to spend another $100, or more!

We will do this in a heartbeat. On a typical week-long trip, we would buy the pre-pay photo pass (which is now $120), and typically add 4-5 on-ride photos. That puts us pretty close to the $200 already, so it's just a few extra bucks for "everything".

I also prepay to buy the Photopass CD. I assumed I would pay the difference to upgrade for our upcoming trip this June.

However, that changed when I realized that I would not be able to just pay the difference in regular price packages ($30). Not sure why they do not allow that. For the $30 difference I might give it a try even though I am not sure how much we'd get out of it. However, not willing to double my cost for a few ride pictures and possibly one or two character pictures. Kind of disappointed in that policy, but they have the right to price it/administer it in any fashion they wish!

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the info! I like the idea. We won't be able to take advantage of until next year. My FIL is a sucker for those ride photos. With a group of 12, I'm sure we'll get our money's worth! Hope they still have it then.

Seems strange but since you already got pics included with your meal at CRT and I thought somewhere else, why would they pyt this on here making it sound like a "great" deal. With my 3 yo I can't see us getting on most these rides and we already pre-ordered before prices went up the CD and photobook. Not sure an extra $100 will even make sense for us at this time.

How does this work if your group splits up? We have teenagers and usually they get a photopass card too and I just load all the photopass cards onto our one account when we get home. Do they only give you one photopass+ card? How could we get ride photos if split up?

Too expensive. Even @ $99 with the discount and given the fact that we've always done it because of the discount, I always thoght it was too high but conceded the cost since it's about the only way I ever get into pictures. :rotfl2:

If they discount it down to a reasonable cost, we'll do it. Otherwise, it's simply too much for too little IMHO. IMO, the rides should have always been included in the CD option anyway. To be honest, it ticks me off that they are using the rides as a lure to sell it (Plus). Because of this, I may just stop doing PP alltogether and I probably have 50 CDs in the closet. I've never missed doing one since it's been available that I can remember. If they remove TT from the standard CD, I'm done for sure.

Less for more. It's just simply becoming an even more common theme IMHO.

To be honest, I'm actually surprised how many people think this is a good thing (the thread in the Parks forum too). I really thought people would be screaming bloody murder.

Absolutely agree!

CRT and Akershus are free photo packages already, so that is redundant.

We bought Photopass 1x when we got the GF photo session included. Photos were ok, and not that great at all.

I happen to think that most Photopass CMs are not that good (have only met 1 retired professional photographer, and he was great), and most of us have the same quality or better digital cameras, so that's not a big deal either.

I think $99.00 Photopass is too much (they've raised the cost of the prepurchase), but $200.00 is downright ridiculous, especially for the subpar quality that most Photopass photos are these days.

I don't really understand why people are so excited about this, unless of course it's people who purchase multiple dinner or ride photo packages, and then they would save money. Otherwise, it's a heck of a lot of money.

Just like before, you can have as many PhotoPass cards as you like to place photos on your CD. However, you only get one PhotoPass+ card. Only the person/group with that card gets the on-ride and dining photo packages.

Thanks for the info. We were thinking about it for our June trip as DH and I are herding his DSIS, DBIL our niece and nephew and DMIL with us, and we've already done our pre-order. Can't see us spending $100 in additional photos. If we could upgrade for say $50.00 it would probably be worth it, but not for another $100.
