Photopass questions

Does anyone know if you can purchase the photopass CD, and then later use the photos on the CD to create a PhotoBook? You'd be uploading those photos as though they were your own, which means that the PhotoBook would be cheaper...and you'd have more time to consider what you want in your photobook.

Does my question make sense?

Has anyone done this?

Thanks!

someone did report being able to do that on here before. you'd have to be careful with timing and all uploaded photos are subject to approval.

Can you expand on what you mean by "careful with timing," and "subject to approval"? Would my photobook be unapproved because I used photopass photos in it that I uploaded from my CD?

well like i said, someone did claim to be able to do it. i'm just adding that as a disclaimer. i don't know what they'd do. i suspect when they sometimes sell a $125 CD for $60, they won't really be scrutinizing over someone saving themselves $20.

you have 30 days after claiming the photos, barring any extensions. so you need to make all your edits and order the CD, receive it, then upload it and build your book online and then order it within that timeframe.

I wasn't the one that posted that you could do it, but I have done it before. I don't think they did the photopass books when we got our first cd, but when I did a photopass book on our last trip, I included pics from our Christmas 2006 trip, which were on photopass, and ones from our Feb 2006 trip and July 2004 trip, which were both on cd's. You have bought the cd's, you OWN the right to print the pics, no matter in what manner you choose to print them.

Thanks for the responses! I'd have a second 30 days from opening the second online account, right? SO, I get the CD in the mail, and then when I'm ready to start the book, I open an online account, and have 30 days to upload the photos and turn them into a book.

Just trying to make sure I don't cut off my nose to spite my face! :)

actually, that was just a huge duh moment for me.

the time factor isn't a factor of all. that 30 days is just for the CD. once you have the CD, you can create the photobook even if there are no photopass photos online.

sorry for missing that substantial point.

ETA: you use one online account for your entire lifetime (if you want) - it has nothing to do with the actual photos. the photos will come and go, but the account can always be there.

so to recap, you create the account if you don't have one already. you claim the photopass cards. you edit/enhance them as desired and order the CD within 30 days. then you log back in, upload the photos you want and create the photobook at your leisure.

No worries... I was just making sure that I wasn't missing something!
