I just recently heard about the Photopass. Can someone describe how it works? How much is it? And is not using the Photopass at Character Meet and Greets looked down upon now? Thanks so much!

Photopass is just the name given to the Disney photo taking system. This feature is called Photopass and the photographers are everywhere; at park entrances and at character meet and greets etc...

Now, instead of having to buy your photos they take of you before you leave the parks, you are given a Photopass card that they swipe and put the photos on. Then you can buy those photos at the end of the trip at WDW or even from the comfort of your home online. This is a free service unless you decide to buy any of the photos taken, then you will pay $12.95 for each 5x7 photo.

They also have a Photopass CD that can be bought if you have a lot of Photopass photos taken. It can fit over 300 photos on it and it is $129.

You can also buy the CD at WDW or at home online. If you buy the CD, you then have to take the CD somewhere to get the photos printed where ever you want. You can also print various sizes rather than just the 5x7 size.

I have never had enough good Photopass photos to make it worth buying the CD for $129. I usually just end up buying 2 or 3. Also, the Photopass folks will be willing to take a picture for you with your camera as well so I like to go home and compare my personal photos with the Photopass photos and then decide how many to buy.

It is very convenient to be able to buy them from home! :)

Hope this helps.

We purchased the PhotPass Book, felt it was a better value. We have about 50 pictures in it. PhotPass pictures, our own pictures and some stock Disney pictures. The book is a great keepsake.:)

Beattyfamily---Thank you so much for your detailed response. This has helped me alot understand the process.

RandTeeny---I looked at the website, thanks!

To not have the pressure of buying on the spot is great!! So, the CM really doesn't mind using your own camera to take a pic, as well?

Where do we get the initial PhotoPass card?

Thanks, again!! I love the Dis:thumbsup2

You are welcome!

The first time you get your photo taken by one of Disney's photographers, they'll give you a card and then you can use that same card for the whole trip. If you happen to forget it in your room, then you can just get another one. You'll then have two and can combine them when you go to buy the photos online (or if you end up buying the CD).

No, most CMs don't mind taking a picture with your camera as well. Sometimes they're the ones who offer before you ask. :)

Wow:cloud9: That is really nice of them. This will be our first trip where we will not have to ask a nice Disney stranger to take our pic so we all can be in it!!! Looks like we will have several pics all together thanks to the PhotoPass system. Just another piece of Disney Magic for us:wizard:
