Has anyone been accepted to the CP as a Photopass Photographer? If so how was it?

I have read most of the threads on the college board but haven't seen anything about that particular role.

I am considering putting that as my first choice because A. I am generally interested in photography. and B. in my previous job I took photos on assignment for publication in a newspaper.

From a Disney standpoint do you think having already been a published photographer will that increase my chances of getting that role? I have read on some other forums that the photos that guests have received when using the photopass program were poor at best, many complaining that the photos weren't even straight and that the photographers didn't really have any knowledge about the equipment other than to point the camera and shoot, which generally does not yield very good results. Do they prefer to hire photographers with no experience?

One other thought I had about that particular role is that there will probably not be very many opportunities for me to pick up additional hours, due to the limited scope of that role VS being in a different role such as attractions. Do you feel this is true?

Basically what I am asking is that, given my situation, do you feel that photopass should be my number 1 choice or should I put Attractions as number one and photopass as number two or three?

Any and all opinions are welcome. :thumbsup2

unfortunately, this role is not for cp's at wdw.. its a fulltime position, so if you would like this position, after your cp, you could apply for this position. I have not heard/seen any cp's doing this position. I do know that at DLR, they do allow cp's to work this role.

That's a bummer, I didn't know they dont offer it under the CP program at WDW, that is probably why I have not seen any posts about it on here. I wonder why that is...

I live in California and would be attending the DLR program so it was an option for me when I began looking at the role check list.

If anyone has worked in this role as full time at WDW or DLR I would love to hear from you.

Thanks

I'm not a college student, but was a WDW castmember, and wanted to let you know that the Photopass Photographer role is one of the higher paying hourly wage positions at Disney. In fact, it is several dollars more per hour. Hope this helps.:)

That's good to know. How did you like it? Was it enjoyable? Did you have prior photography experience before you were hired at Disney? If you could go back would you have chosen a different role, or were you happy with your decision?

Thanks.

The reason that we are able to offer Photopass as a CP role here at the DLR is that it's a Hourly Operations Role here - you apply for it through Casting like you would Attractions or Foods.

At WDW, it's a Hourly Office and Technical Role - you apply for it through disneycareers.com like you would any other Office Position within The Walt Disney Company.

I don't work in Photopass personally, but I've seen some of our CPs who do, they seem to enjoy their work. They also do make a few dollars more than other CMs.

Actually, I wasn't a Photopass Photographer, I worked for the DVC, but from working there I knew the Photopass role was one of the best paying hourly jobs. When I worked the parks the photographers seemed to enjoy it, at least as much as any other role. I think when you know you are making a half decent wage you tend to enjoy it better.:)

Oops, sorry I must have misread your post and assumed that you were in the program. Thanks for the info.
