Disney made such a fuss about how the $50 discount was only for select customers who'd received an invitation. When they locked down the discount code, we all had a fit. I personally spent several frustrating hours over the course of many calls to try to get my $50 last summer.
It took them quite a while to recognize that DVC members were good PhotoPass customers. I was just reading that they've finally got the DVC PhotoPass discount set up through member services.
Then I read this on the Disney blog...
The PhotoPass pre-purchase CD offers are now open to everyone. Disney is advertising it on their blog, which points to this web site for details. This is the original offer of $99 for the CD or $149 for the CD + Book, instead of the straight $50 discount offered to DVC. No email, code, or reservation number needed.
I'm laughing in retrospect. They were so adamant that the discount wasn't for everyone, and got what they wanted - a web site that only those who got an invitation could get into. I wonder how long it took them to realize how much money the change was costing them.
Everyone in unison, now... "WE TOLD YOU SO!"
