PhotoPass, Memory Maker question

I am really confused about Photopass, Photopass+ and Memory Maker. I purchased Memory Maker last year for $100 and it worked great. Got home, downloaded pics and videos and they were great. Now, it's $170. What is the difference between photopass and photopass+? It looks like photopass+ cost is $99, but we're not understanding the differences....confused. Can anyone help clear this up? We are leaving in about a week and would like to do something, just not sure which way to go.

Hi 18sprint. I am really confused with the different packages. I don't understand what they mean. I am in the UK and if I buy a Disney ticket via a travel agent then we get free memory maker. What is that? My understanding was if I got a magic band and linked it with my theme park ticket then whenever I go on a Disney ride that takes your picture then that's automatically added to your account if I have memory maker. I am not staying on property so was advised that using a ticket was a better option. It just doesn't seem clear at all!! When you have a memory maker does this basically mean if you have purchased that that you then download all the pictures that are taken of you without having to pay any more money? It's so confusing!

Photopass is just the name of the website containing the photos and the card used when getting photos taken.

Memory Maker gives you downloads of every photo taken of you and every ride photo. It is $169 upfront or $199 afterwards.

photopass+ doesn't exisit anymore at WDW, it was replaced with Memory Maker. At DisneyLAND they offer photopass+, but don't offer memory maker.


Also now you can use a magicband instead of a photopass card and ride photos automatically add to your accoount if using a band.

You are correct, Memory Maker gives you unlimited downloads of ALL photos taken of you, both ride photos and walk-round photopass photographers. If you don't have a magicband just scan your ticket under the monitor showing your ride photo, or get the photographer to scan your ticket. If you get a band then the ride photos are automatically linked to your account, but if you don't want to buy a band you just need to scan your ticket at the ride photo monitor.

When you get home you have 30 days to download all the pictures.

I haven't got it, but will have it included in my UK tickets when we go next year (13 months to go!) so I did a little research.

On previous trips (last was 2010) I have just paid thr $14.95 for a single photo as we didn't have enough taken to make it worth spending $99.95 on photopass+. Especially as at the time photopass+ didn't include ride photos. As Memory Maker now includes ride photos I think we will end up with a lot more photos!

Thank you so much for that information. I quite like the idea of getting a magic band it just seems like it's for more convenient. The memory maker defo sounds like a good thing to get!

photos on-line, then you could purchased some or all of them and they were sent to you via a cd disc. If I am reading the website right, you may be able to do this but it is $14.95 per picture and you download what
you purchase. Not sure if this is still correct.

Thanks again. My last visit was 2007 so lots has changed. We leave the end of September next year so sounds like we will be on holiday around the same time. The idea of having all the ride pics is what is totally attracting me to getting the memory maker. Plus having access to wifi and getting digital pics sounds really great. (Can annoy folks at home with our pics. Lol) I am so excited and have loads of time to plan. I have lists. Lol.

You can still pay $14.95 per picture. But if you want all pictures it is $199 for memory maker now. so if you have less than 14 pictures it is cheaper just to pay per picture. I think you can still pay ON TOP of the memory maker cost for a CD, but you could just download the photos and burn your own CD!

This needs an *. You can get all ride photos on your Photopass by scanning a card or ticket after the rides except for Mine Train. There is no way to get the Mine Train ride photo and video without a MB. When they built the ride they didn't build a photo viewing spot like older rides have, since they knew MB would link the photos.

We got MemoryMaker on our last trip, 7 days in May. Ended up with about 300 photos (probably only 200 without the Disney "stock" photos), but it was still very much worth it for us. Plenty of Magic Shots and Animated Magic shots are available from the photographers, I would definitely ask every time you get a picture taken.
