I just happened to catch this thread on another one of the sections of DIS - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2196076 - and it appears that the price for a WDW PhotoPass CD is going up on June 16 (though they can still pre-order for $99 and save money). I am sure some of you saw it. It just occurred to me a week or so ago that when people ask about PhotoPass on DIS, we have been quoting that same $59.95 price for the CD for quite some time and it seemed too good to be true.

Does anyone have any knowledge of the DLR PP CD price hiking on the 16th too? Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if the price is going up - and yet it would at the same time. Some of the previously existing PP opportunities are gone now because of the ongoing construction, and there have been reports that not as many photographers are out and about lately.

Well, until we know for sure if DLR's PhotoPass prices will be affected, I would say that anyone who has pictures from their recent DLR trips waiting to be edited or purchased on the PhotoPass site should hurry and do all that before June 16th - just in case!

Well, I don't know. It seems like something Miceage would know about if it was happening. They seem to know that sort of stuff. :confused3 I hope not because we might be using it this trip.

That would be nice to know as we head down on the 23rd and I was planning on using it this go round, too. If there aren't as my photographers out and if the price is going up.... I may reconsider. On the other hand, if the price is going up and enough photographers are going to be out there, I would considering pre-ordering if we can get it at today's price...

If the price is going up and not many photographers out, then maybe I would only order a few prints...

Just may have to wait and see.

I was just thinking recently that the price seemed to be holding for a while, and then I thought, "Well, when they start adding more things into DCA in the next couple of years, then they will hike up the PP price for sure." But right now, with some of the former PP locations and opportunities gone, and many foks saying they can't even find PP people on some days, it would be crummy if they hiked it up a good $20 or so, like the WDW CD price is being raised!! I mean, I know they added in the BBB in DTD, and there is a PP person there, but that alone is not worth a $20 increase!! I wouldn't mind a slight increase if they ADD more PP people around both parks.

I know there have been several DIS-ers who have been to DLR in the last few weeks, used PhotoPass and have not ordered their CDs yet, so hopefully they do it ASAP, because I have a sneaking suspicion that we will be saying goodbye to the $59.95 price.

I'm interested in finding out if prices are going up too. We're going to be there in August and will be meeting up with family so i think it'll be a good deal to preorder now if price are going up.

BTW, can someone post a link to the DL photopass preorder? I'd be extremely greatful. The only preorder I'm finding and am able to place in my cart is $99 WDW photopass.

Yeah, that is the only pre-order price available for both WDW and DLR. Since the DLR CD is usually $59.95 when you order it after your trip is over, the pre-order never made sense because it would cost more money. Now, if they raise the CD price from, for example, $59.95 to $79.95 (let's hope not) for DLR, it would still make more sense to get it after your trip is over than to pre-order. The pre-order is only good for WDW becasue otherwise the WDW folks would be paying $129.95 (and now $149.95) after the trip was over to get the CD. So WDW guests actually save $$$ by pre-ordering, but DLR guests lose money by doing that.

Ah I get it. I was confused. I thought the $59 price was the DL preorder, not the DL regular rate. I guess it doesn't make sense at all to preorder for DL then. I guess we'll just wait and see what happens during our trip if it makes sense to buy the photopass cd. Thanks for the info.

Exactly - so far, unless they hike up the regular DLR CD price to a ridiculous price that exceeds $100, it makes no sense to pre-order because it only costs more money to do it that way. But since they are raising the regular WDW CD price by $20, I am wondering if we are looking at a $20 increase for DLR's CD, or if they will hike it up by $10 or what. There are folks who already don't think the $59.95 is worth it, so they may be losing some customers if they make it $69.95 or $79.95 while DCA is undergoing all this construction and the photo ops are more limited!

I hope it doesn't go up. I was just there last week, and there were hardly any photographers out and around. At certain times, there weren't even any in the beginning of the park near the new balloon thing (with the castle in the background?)

Maybe once summer peak starts, more photographers will be out?

I know there were reports here of a reduction of available photographers at DLR...if that's still the case, then they'd really lose customers by raising the price. If you only get 3 or 4 pictures, $59.99 is already plenty steep enough. :confused3 But who knows?

Well, it used to make sense.

I started with photopass for our sept '07 trip with a share, and the cost at DLR was the SAME 124.95 as it is today in WDW.

In Dec '07 I used the pre-order page when we did our CD on our own.

It was later that it started dropping, and the 59.95 price is only a year old, IF that. The price was at one point, during my Jan '08 trip, 79.95 or something close to that.

The people reporting the future price change can see that future price in their account. If you have no WDW card IDs on your account you can't see ANY price for the CD (I have a separate account that we'll use for WDW...there are no card ID numbers on the account and there's no price showing anywhere for the CD). But for those with current cards on their account, they say they can see the current and future price.

I just looked on my DLR photopass account, and it has current pictures on there, and there's ONLY the current 59.95 price, no portents of future doom (higher price) at all.

That's so funny!:rotfl: "no portents of future doom (higher price) at all." Ahh, okay, so the way you explained it, Molly, it seems the DLR CD price has been dropping (so far) where as the WDW price now seems to be rising. So if the $59.95 price is only a year old, then maybe it will hold for another year or so, when more things start showing up in DCA...lets hope! Because I have read a few folks' posts recently that stated they could barely even find any PP people, and that is not good!
