Hi guys!

You talked about the Photopass on the e-mail show. I have to tell you, we've definitely ended up spending more on pictures because now we can wait until the next paycheck after the trip to buy pictures! :thumbsup2

Another great show! Can't wait until next Tuesday!

Sharing the cost of a PhotoPass CD is a great way to save money on these photos. If you do a search for "photopass share", you'll find a number of threads on this topic. :thumbsup2

(this is copied from a post by dismarkle who gave a great explanation! Thanks!)

Here is how a photopass share works:

1) Get a photopass card from a photopass photographer when they take your pictures in the parks. Have fun and have lots of photopass photographers take your picture. Each photographer will scan your photopass card to add photos to your photopass card id number.

2) When you get home, rather than create your own Photopass account on the Disney Photopass website, you will use a photopass account that is already created by the group of people that you have prearranged to share with.

3) All the people in this group add their photopass card IDs to this same account on the Disney Photopass website. You can edit your photos there (add borders, crop, etc) and then once everyone in the group has added their photos and edited their pictures, one person orders the CD of pictures that cost $125 plus tax and shipping. ($99 on sale preorder right now, which I ordered for group #3.) All the members split the cost evenly.

4) Everyone's pictures will be on this CD. The person who ordered it will make copies for all other people in the group and mail them their copies. You can then take this CD to any photo place and get your photos developed as you wish because Disney sends a copyright release with the CD.

5) With 5 people sharing in buying one CD, the cost should only be around $24 each. Obviously the cost will decrease with more members in a group

6) There is no limit to how many pictures you can take. If a group has enough pictures to fill more than one CD, Disney will send as many additional CD's as it takes at no extra charge.

NOTE: Sharing a CD means that strangers (the people within the group) will have a copy of your trip photos. Some people may not be comfortable with that.

IMPORTANT: From the time the first photo is taken on a photopass card you must claim that photo on the Disney photopass website within 30 days. So everybody needs to get their photopass IDs added to the account as soon as possible upon their return. The sooner the better, so that everyone can get their CDs ASAP.

We were at Disneyland this last May and used the photo pass photographer for the first time. I like the availability of photographers on the cruise line and the availability of the pictures at shutter, I figured it was similar, but you shop online.

This service is actually WAY better! I love the extra borders and stickies you can add like "Disneyland 2007."

In one of our pictures in front of the castle, the photographer had us all cup our hands as if we were all holding something together and looking surprised at "it." Turns out when I went to view the picture online, Tinkerbell was in our hands! :tinker: Wish I could figure out my scanner and I would post it.

The pictures are not cheap but worth the quality. It's so great to get the "whole family" shots without having to get some stranger to take the snapshot for you.

being able to buy the CD is great...
when we used photopass, that wasn't an option..
only purchasing pictures (which we did, all three times - to the tune of $300 each time!!)...
but those pictures were outstanding and worth every penny...the finest quality pictures i've ever had associated with WDW - they were printed at Kodak in rochester ny, so maybe that's why the quality was so extraordinary..

Do you mean copies of the photos or copies of the CD?
Sounds another great way that DISers are sharing the costs :)

We are planning on preordering our Photopass.

Here is the link to the info on the Photopass site.

Sharing sounds great but I'm a bit of a control freak when it comes to this stuff so I will just opt for the $20 off and go w/ the $100 Photopass.

Besides, we used to pay way more than that in prints of these shots on EACH of our previous trips!

I am having a hard time finding out about shipping for the photopass CD & other stuff...can anyone tell me how they ship the products to Canada? (if not I will go back to the Canada board & ask there.)

Thanks

I've heard there are discounts that you can use from home if you attend MNSSHP. People have reported getting to use the discount on their whole order not just from that night. Can anyone tell me which would be a better deal?

I was having concerns about this also. I'm in Australia and didn't want to pre-order and then them not send it. There doesn't seem to be any consistency about what they will send and what they wont. We spent over $7000 on tickets for our group and wouldn't send these even though we would have paid extra. But then sent the DDE card.

I've asked to join the Sept photopass group - we are going to WDW in 3 1/2 weeks. I understand the photopass, but just one question --- is there any way to add ride photos to the cd? I didn't think so because it is not a Disney photographer but DD13 asked and I didn't know for sure. Cheers!

They ship to the UK so Canada should not be a problem.

My conerns is more how they ship. UPS is a bit of a big brown bully when it comes to crossing the Canadian border. (must have been a bad poutine experience somewhere!) I have been charged around the cost of the package in duties & brokerage fees. Duties are regulated but brokerage fees are considered more of a service for handling the customs stuff, so they can pretty much charge what they want. I only found out about this the hard way - at the front door - pay $56 now or you don't get your package and no warning that they would be expecting cash on delivery either. I had orderd the items because I couldn't buy them locally. The package was worth $56 US. I decided to pay and then discovered the order was wrong. I knew I wouldn't be able to afford shipping a correction so I was bitter - I gambled & lost! I later found out this is not uncommon and not really regulated. UPS is the ONLY company I have had this problem with, and of course, Disney uses them. At least for on line shopping and shipping from WDW stores. I haven't had problems with tickets & that stuff.
