The photopass CD is no longer available for preorder to the general public! Boo! According to WDWinfo, if you are guest of the WDW Resort, you "MAY" get a discount sent to you 45 days before your trip. So I guess it's luck of the draw if you are offered a discount.

Granted this doesn't affect me all that much but my upcoming trip is 38 days away and I'm below the 45 days. I was thinking about maybe getting the CD now I don't have that option. My family always stays on property so that aspect doesn't matter for us but for other familes, this will affect them quite a bit. I guess I'm going to use my own camera on this trip like I normally do. Maybe get the Photopass people to use my camera. Many people do this but I never have. OH well no more Photopass CD for me. I'm glad my wife and I got the CD and the book on our honeymoon in April.

Tipping point for me. I love Photopass and always gets the CD, but $150 is too much. I won't be getting them anymore.

Yes it's just like Pete said. Disney is going to price things out of peoples means. It's going to get to a point that things like this are going to be too expensive and people are going to say they have enough, that's too much, i'm not going to pay it. Well this a perfect example. I'm sure other things are to follow. I will no longer buy the CD, $150 is too expensive.

Count me among those no longer purchasing the CD.
And it's too bad too- we really liked having the photos all on one CD.

We will ask for the photographers to use our cameras instead.

It's not all resort guests either. DVC members like myself are not getting the discount.

I can fully understand not giving DVC members free dining, because after all that's merely a perk to get people in the rooms, but I don't understand the logic of not extending the photopass discount to people who are potentially buying your product every year for 40 plus years.

I was wondering if DVC reservations would be included. I really thought they would be. I mean why wouldn't they? Don't see the logic in not including them at all. :sad2:

I have been corresponding with the Photopass people about this issue. They are still working on their system for Photopass. The discount email may become available to guests who book through travel agents and DVC once they make some changes to their system. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this to happen.

I emailed Photopass just a few minutes ago asking about the email. I provided my res# and stated that I do get the Destination emails as listed on their site. I'll post again when I get a reply. I've never ordered a CD, but I'm sort of curious as to what their response will be....

I will not be purchasing the cd anymore either. I think $150 is crazy! Maybe when I have kids it will be different, but by then the price will be even higher.

People are also reporting the the photographers have left the water parks at the end of Sept.

I didn't order ours until the night before we left this year. I really debated, too. Now, w/out the water park pictures, I doubt if I'll be ordering in the future. And most definently not at $150 + $7 shipping.

They are shooting themselves in the foot. It's the start of a downhill spiril.....

Wonder how long it will be before Disney tells the Photographers they can't take our pictures with our cameras?

They will claim liability issues, not wanting to be blamed for a broken camera or such but we all know that it is coming and it will be because they will think that guest will want "professionals" taking the pictures and will pose for the photos that way and make some additional sales..

Not me, I will just ask someone to take my photo, I can look at it immediately and if its not good, we can try again

No photopass discount = no CD for me.

I agree that 150.00 is ridiculous to pay for the CD.

Maybe I'll buy a picture or 2 but I will start having them take pictures with my digital camera until they aren't allowed to do that anymore for the most part.

I thought it was overpriced before, $150 is just insane considering you are pretty much getting snapshots. I'll be handing my own camera over to these guys a lot more on upcoming trips.

What I have to say really ties this whole conversation together for me.

Last year, we preordered the cd. We LOVED the photos we got and it was well worth it.

This year, we never got around to preordering it and figured we'd just swallow our pride and buy it when we got home. However, the pictures on there were so bad, we decided against it. The photopass photographers this year were not very good at all. They only took one picture each for the most part, and this was during a slow time. Some of the photos are blurry, and very few of them did any special effects. A couple of them really were downright rude and it seemed that none of them wanted to be there.

The pictures this year weren't worth 10 bucks, let alone 150!!!

They have priced me out of this item, and on top of that, have made it more difficult for me to buy it a discounted rate, when the product isn't worth the rack rate or discounted rate.

We won't be buying it next year.

I became a fan on Facebook of Disney's PhotoPass. This is the response they posted to the discussion tab about pre ordering the CD.

"We haven't taken the pre-arrival CD away, but we did make a change to ensure that guests are truly buying it before their trip. To do so an email is sent about 45 days prior to your vacation. However, since we just made the change, some guests who are arriving fairly soon will get their email closer to their actual arrival date.

The link to the pre-arrival offer is included in a newsletter-style email, note that the link to the offer is just one of many links in the message. The email is called "Magical Musts for your Disney Vacation" and is sent out by our partners in Walt Disney World Marketing. We are currently working closely with our partners to find a way to get this email and/or a link to the offer to all eligible guests including those who book through Travel Agents and to Disney Vacation Club members. If you fall into one of those two groups AND you have an upcoming trip (within 45 days or so) please contact our Guest Support team using the Contact Us information on the site and they will assist you.

We thank all of our guests and fans for their patience and understanding as we work through this new way of providing the pre-arrival offer.

Disney's PhotoPass team"

$150 way to much, $100 is too much too! You still have to print your photos so the cost is much hugher then just the initial ordering!

I've been willing to spend the $100.00 for the CD but at $150.00 I don't believe that I'll purchase it anymore... if we don't stay at a Disney resort.

A lot of the times we do stay at a Disney resort but not on our last trip. We stayed at The Dolphin and it was very nice at a substancial savings over Disney resorts located in the same area.

Fortunately, on our recent trip I had pre-purchased it at the discounted price. There were days where you where lucky to see a couple photographers all day long. Then the next day we saw maybe 10… sort of hit and miss I guess. It’s not like we were in the parks for only a few hours… we were there ALL day. It's to the point where we will get in line and just have the photographer use our camera...until Disney disallows that too.

I did like being able to add the borders for each picture but even that takes quite a bit of time. It would be nice if they had a feature that would allow you to add all the borders automatically to all the pictures.

Oh well...

Mark

Thanks for the Info Jen! I just emailed the photopass site to see if I can get the offer for December.

AS a recent DVC member, I certainly will not buy an overpriced, un-quality CD at $150.00 even if allowed to do so. If their photographers will not take my picture, fine. I am sure some freindly, nice tourist will gladly take mine in exchange for me taking their familys.

Way to go, family friendly Disney.

P.S. your photographers the last trip were not that great and certainly were not that courteous either, when they could be found! I think I can do better with tourists.
