Photography/Videography question

I booked Chapman photography and I am thinking about booking STVS videography... My question is how long does it take to get your pictures to you and for STVS to get your video to you? We are having a reception back at home and would like to have some kind of idea how long it takes as we want to show the pictures and video at the reception.

Thank you

I have both of them booked as well, I can't recall the normal times, but I know they both have a "rush" option. I'd email and ask! :)

I have just received my pictures yesterday, and they did not include the edited ones, which will be sent later. Will you be making the slideshow? as it will take time to sort through all of the pictures, I had close to 3000. If it was me, I would plan it about 2-3months after the wedding, so you have the time to figure everything out, and allow for delays. Randy says he takes between 3 and 4 weeks, but then again, I was told they got behind in May because of all of the weddings. It may depend on the date of your wedding and how busy he is.

I have no idea how long the video will take.

HTH

I had both Randy and Stan.

We went with a "rush" from Randy and we had our proofs and CD's from him after 10 days - this is something that I believe you would have to pay extra for but I don't know how quick Randy could do them for you it would depend, I'm sure, on how many other weddings he was doing around at the same time.

STVS - we got ours in 4 months and I was more than happy with that timescale but again I believe you can pay extra to get it sooner if they can accommodate.

BTW both Stan and Randy work really well together.

We got married on April 15th in Disney and had a reception in NY on May 17. I got my picutres from Randy on May 15th and had a continuous slideshow going the whole night thru all of the pics ( there were over 1000!). I called about a week and a half before the 17th and told Linda of my plans and she got the to me in time! With the video I believe it is a minimum of 8-10 weeks.... I just go my video 6/28. It is gorgeous! STVS did a fantasic job on editing it... I do believe that with Randy and Stan you can ask for a rush but it is an extra charge.

Randy and Stan are great and you have made excellent choices! You will love working with them both.

Just a quick note on Randy & Stan...

a little birdie whispered to me that Randy and Stan may be offering package deals together in 2009. this is just a RUMOR...but it COULD be true!!! *fingers crossed for future brides*

definitey true, check out stvsweddings.com then prices... says it there on stans site... :cool1: :thumbsup2

STVS takes 12 weeks or they have a 1 week rush delivery (fee $350). I need my video for our at home reception (about 8 weeks after) and bonnie was nice enough to tell me that that shouldn't be a problem. I was ecstatic because I didn't want to to pay $350 because we didn't need in it 1 week!

That's awesome that it works out for you! :thumbsup2 I can't wait to see your video!

I am getting married at Disney next April and after reading through some of the boards I'm a little hesitant about using Disney photographers. Are there any suggestions for outside photographers that are really good? It seems like everyone likes Randy Chapman. And, why isn't Disney any good? I am grateful for any suggestions!!

Randy Chapman, The Roots, and Misty Miotto (sp?) seem to be the faves around here. As to why Disney is so bad, I really don't have the personal experience to say.

Not everyone feels that Disney Photography is bad - we had them and LOVED their work for the surprise bridal shower and MK photos (used a different vendor for the wedding due to the rules at the time). Many brides actually love their DPS photos, but it's easier to post the negative than the positive.

Randy and Stan have always been popular here. The rest of the photographers cycle through every few years - Karla Fountain, Gary Fox etc. It just depends on who is using which vendor.

i already booked both seperately, does that mean i'm too late to get a combined deal??

One of the main problems with Disney's photography is that you don't get to pick your photographer - they just assign you one. Because everyone has different taste, most brides like to be able to find a photographer who shoots in a style they like, but with Disney you have to take what you get.

Additionally, Disney's prices are very high and they do not include rights to the digital versions of your pictures. This means that every time you want a copy of one of your pictures, you have to buy it from Disney ($12 for a 4x6, $30 for an 8x10).

My personal experience with a Disney photographer was pretty bad - our photos lacked even the basic principles of good photography. However many brides have used Disney photographers and been perfectly happy with their work. It just depends on who you get.

Fortunately, we were able to use an outside vendor for our wedding photography (the Roots - www.rootography.com) and found photographers whose style (and price) suited us perfectly!

Thank you so much for the advice!!! I really appreciate it. I will definitely check out other vendors. I guess since Disney is on point in every other aspect I didn't think about their photography not being exactly what I wanted. Thanks again!
