Photography Stocking Stuffers

While everyone would love a new camera or a new lens, those things are generally out of the price range for most Christmas gifts. I know that I certainly haven't been that good this year.

On the other hand, there are a ton of useful little photography items that are more reasonably priced. How about contributing your ideas for stocking stuffers. Try to keep everything under $100. If it isn't extremely obvious, explain why a photographer would want the item.

Black Rapid Strap. I used the two strap setup for my recent trip and carried two cameras everyday and did not suffer shoulder fatigue. Suffered overal fatigue but not from the cameras. One was a D700 with a 70-200 that I carried everyday for 8 days from 8 in the morning to after 8 at night.

That is #1 on my stocking stuffer list as well.

I'm typically way too cheap to get anything larger than an 8x10, but for a select few shots I have taken (or obtained) I would love to get something larger.

For non-gift card stuff, I'd be happy to receive:

- Memory
- An extra battery
- Lens pen
- Memory wallet
- Black Rapid strap (edited, I have this, but I can see a lot of people listing it, so I'm going to keep it)
- Flash diffusers

How a about a Gorillapod? This little tri pod could come in handy and it would fit nicely in a stocking

Remote shutter release! I find a lot of my friends don't have one (don't think they need one), but when you do own one it's something you'll use more often than you think!

I'd like a husband who carries your equipment around for you. I'm told that these models start charging in the neighborhood of $150 and up so he may be a little pricey for this thread....

Perhaps I can offer to take his picture and bring down the price.... on second thought never mind.

You haven't seen my stocking have you ? I'm hoping mine is stuffed with a 14-24 2.8 or a 70-200VR 2.8.


Seriously though, I think extra batteries make good stocking stuffers. A nice umbrella or lighting accessory for us portrait/wedding shooters are nice as well.

A monopod

An extra lenscap (I am NOTORIOUS for losing mine....so far I've gone an entire YEAR keeping the original one that came with my 50D lens)

One of those lenscaps that gives you a proper WB reading by shooting through it?

Has anyone used one of those? I struggle with figuring out WB, they look pretty cool.

Microfiber cloths.... Skip the photo shop and get them in the automotive section at Target or Walmart. 3M has several varieties that are < $5.

Disney has a Mickey Mouse one that comes with a grommet (sp?) type clip @ the parks for $6 .

Mine is supposed to be delivered Monday. (What can I say- not expecting much from Santa what with that whole LIST he has. )

I would go for some of the things I would not buy for my self like the LCD cleaners to get my nose grease off. Memory card holder, memory cards (cant have too many of them), magnetic tape for our next Disney Cruise to put pics on the door, a wireless remote and mini tripod so I can get in a couple of pics.

how about a Lensbaby 2.0, it can be bought for less then 70.00 and would be fun to play with.

One thing I have not seen mentioned yet are filters. Especially circular polarizers and ND filters.

I second the idea for memory cards.

I need filters!~ I need to figure out what kind to get....I need a polorizing filter and a protective filter for a 40D.

Any ideas/suggestions?
