photography courses?

I am considering taking a photography course. I am looking at the New York Institute of Photography or the Photography Institute of Canada. Does anyone know anything on either of these programs?

I'm in unit 2 of the fundamentals of digital photography-(new york institute of photography) I reallly like it so far. The material is very easy to understand, & if you have questions you can call or email your student advisor. A video they sent was out dated, but as for their material it's right on task. I would reccommend this course.

I was trying to decide which course I should do. I was looking at the professional photography course but some reviews said some information was dated which concerned me a little.

I have been doing the professional course for a long time now. I actually got sidetracked and had to ask for an extension on the course as they give you 3 years and I had to take quite some time off from the worry of having to do the assignments.

Anyways, the information as I received it in 2007 was VERY outdated. All film based information. That doesn't change the fundamentals of photography, but it would have been better if it were digital based. They were working on making it digital based at the time so maybe they have completed it by now. I would be sure to call and ask.

Also, send away for the information. Get the information and sit back and relax. As time goes on, they will send you things making it cheaper and cheaper for you to join. At the time, it was $1000. I pulled the trigger when the cost was offered to me at $600.
