I'm a newbie to the SLR world. Has anyone taken general classes and found them useful or is it something you can just read in a book? A friend mentioned that Ritz Camera teaches classes, is it worth it?

Also, if anyone can recommend classes or teaches/knows someone who teaches classes in the Morris County New Jersey area please let me know....

Check your local community colleges. I am taking a class in Oct and I can not wait for it. Usually they are pretty inexpensive.

I was going to mention Adult Night School courses... You might want to check out your local area for that.

Of course I've been following your online class Kelly :worship: After all you invented "the lens" :goodvibes Your online guide is wonderful I've printed everything out. Also checked out the canon online guide which is great. All of this information makes me feel overloaded :faint: I keep on testing myself throughout the day...okay what is aperture/ f-stop/ sensor/ shutter speed...etc. This newbie is going crazy...lol. Thank you for this board it has been extremely helpful!

I will definitely search out local community colleges to look for classes.

Check your local community college for photography work shops. I conduct photography work shops from beginner to advanced digital photography. Since I work in the photography industry, I find that you can find some pretty good classes through camera stores as well. These are sometimes taught my manufacturer representatives.

I tried asking Disneyland if I could take my group of students to Disneyland at night to demonstrate how to take night photos of various parts of the park. So far I have not gotten any response.

I took a photography class through our city parks department. Try there too.
