we have gotten over 3 ft of snow and now ice, more snow tomorrow and for the rest of the week so i'm not going anywhere soon :rotfl:but did see this guy right outside my kitchen window this afternoon....guess he was waiting for his dinner to fly up, bringing a whole new meaning to takeout/delivery? (and funny how much dirtier the windows look on camera:rotfl:)...i'll try to get something more creative some time this month hopefully

pugrpooh, i just saw yours...what is up with the hawks???? maybe they are looking for a bigger meal than a sparrow?:scared1::rotfl2:

Actually I was going to give that a try later on today. :)
andy, last yr (or maybe the yr before, time flies) when it was really cold we got a nice frost on our storm windows and i took this one at sunset with the golden light coming through...maybe try one then or at sunrise for some nice light?????. the ice was so beautiful, guess i take those dreaded frosted windows for granted

( stinking tiny image , there is a way to do it bigger minus the frame but don't feel like looking through 36 pages of photo thumbnails to find the right one :))

I have been looking for that lately. Certainly is cold enough but not enough water is available to condense on the windows. Just that darned white stuff. I will have to spray the windows one night and see what I wake up to. Doesn't hurt to try.

Taking a little license with the theme, this is looking back throught the window of time to the time of the fur trade in Western Canada. At the Manitoba Musuem they have a restored ship, the Nonsuch, that was used to sail between Hudson's Bay and England in connection with the fur trade. You can board and explore the ship (but don't touch the ropes). These are some artifacts in the ship:

I don't know -- he didn't find anything in my yard! I see them often, mostly on the tall streetlights by the highways.

Wow -- 3 ft. of snow! We haven't gotten any this year, but it's been all around us. It's just starting to snow now and we should get 2-4" today and my new lens just came in yesterday! Perfect timing! They've closed every school system around here except for our county, so DD7 will be disappointed. But it won't melt anytime soon.

Wow -- 3 ft. of snow! We haven't gotten any this year,

we'd only had a few inches here and there before last weekend but then is snowed for 4 days straight( i do live in the primary snowbelt so "snow on the ground" is a given for most of the winter) but they are calling for about 6 more tonight and up to another foot on top of that by the end of Saturday:sad2: guess i'll be trying to think of "inside" window shots so good thing Pea came up with this one for this month:rotfl:

Brrr....we had rain that turned to ice on the roads last night. Thankfully I got the blankets on the ponies before that happened!! They appear to be warm and dry out there, but for now, I'm just looking out the window at them!!

Ok So I am also new to posting pictures to the board. But I finally figured out how to post. Then after I posted, I went back and looked at the original post and realized my pictures should be new. Well, sorry my pictures are not so new, but I hope they add to thr thread anyway. I will look closer next time. Sorry.

This bluebird stopped by and I grabbed my camera quickly and put it on auto, thinking I wouldn't learn much but at least I'd get to snap a pic before he took off. However, I did actually learn some things:

1) That window wasn't as clean as I thought it was
2) I was reminded of the advantage of manual focus when shooting through glass (especially shooting through double pane glass at an angle)
3) Unlike my S3, the XSi does not automatically revert to single shot mode when powered off. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't firing, then figured out it had last been used on 10 second delay...

Our foyer Christmas tree as seen through the windows on our study door. I dismantled my village and undecorated the tree last night and already our house looks bare - I hate undecorating.

The last night of my Christmas lights as seen through the window beside my door. The white lights on my foyer tree are reflecting in this shot.
