Photographing Pets

Our chocolate lab, Rocky, had to get surgery for a torn ACL about a month ago. This weekend, it was his first weekend allowed off the leash and back into the yard for a little light play. He's not the type of dog who will sit still for a picture, but after a month cooped up in the house, I don't blame him!

His brother, Mickey, has also been suffering as a result because most of our free time has been spent caring for Rocky rather than playing and going on walks. He was happy to get outside and play a little fetch.

We told ourselves that when JoJo died, after having him for almost 17 years, that we would not get another ... at least until we retired. :confused3

Last week I was "just looking" at the Poodle Rescue Society here and then at some other sites when I saw "The Face". I immediately started crying because of the connection. When I tracked him down he was in the Humane Society shelter here in Tampa. He had been in a shelter in Mississippi where he was about to be put down because no one wanted him. The Tampa Humane Society brought him here to keep him from being put down. Once here they removed his damaged eye, fixed a hernia from birth, neutered him and put in a chip. No one had come to see him at all from the month he was here; until we came looking for him. They were prepared to keep him forever.

We fell in love instantly! He has been a wonderful addition to our family.

He got his name because the mohawk haircut looked like a "fin". Think Jimmy Buffet's "Fins to left, fins to right". His real name now is Phineas from our grand-daughter's favorite cartoon.

I'm an avid lurker here, but this is my first pet post. This is our newest baby, Angus. He's a 4 mth old Blue Heeler. We just got him for our 9 year old son. He was totally surprised and excited!

This first one is when DS first met Angus. As you can see, it was love at first sight!

wow, what an awesome story....i'm so happy for you, that is what you call a match made in heaven:littleangel:

Congrats on Phineas, Brack! I know how you feel about JoJo. Still missing George. Matter of fact, was in the parking lot that was next to where the emergency was for pet, and started getting all teary eyed.

Miss Kitty though has been my shadow, though she is out catching a sunbeam nap.

Thanks!

I avoid the street that the Vet ER is on even though it is the most direct route to my dentist. :sad1: It is hard to drive when you are crying.

This is our youngest family member, (Princess) Leia. Although a Jack Russell would not have been my breed of choice, I wouldn't trade her for the world. We hope to rescue her a brother or sister soon.

Love love love the Corgi puppy pics. If you can believe it, my dog Jonas in the above posts is half Corgi! :scared1: He's got long legs and is 50 pounds now, but we're pretty sure that daddy is a Border collie.

Here's my sweet Kacie enjoying a beautiful Fall day!

Here are a few pictures of our rescue puppy. His name is Henry and he is a Great Pyrenees. The 1st owner had him chained to a tree and hardly fed him. He was bald in spots and so skinny. He is so sweet I can not believe someone could do that to him. He is now a big lap baby.
