Photographing Pets

Our newest kitty, Lola. She belonged to a friend of mine who passed away last weekend. I was with her when she got Lola last fall as a kitten and told her I'd take the cat if she didn't want her- she had 7 cats already, she was 69 years old and was handicapped to boot. She kept Lola. She told me a few months before she passed away that she was leaving Lola to me in her will so I guess she'd be happy that I took her. Now I have 6 cats! My kids are calling me the crazy cat lady!
Lola when she got booted out of DD19's room and put in DD15's room for being a pest at 1 a.m. on her 1st night here! She is extremely affectionate! She wants to rub on you and knead with her sharp claws. not good when you are trying to sleep.

Such a great thing for you to take her in. I have 6 cats two (in addition to the Chocolate Lab and Golden Retriever) and people call me crazy cat lady all the time----it's kind of my "thing" now. :rotfl:

My2girls66... that is so sweet that you could take Lola. She is pretty!

Hershey walked into the bedroom she was hiding in. Lola had 2 dogs in her other home but they were small. 95lbs of dog is a bit indimidating.

Thanks everyone. Lola is a good kitty. She's been sleeping in DD's bedroom. She is still afraid of the dog so when she isn't in DD's room she is hiding in the basement.
Here is Hershey taking a dip toward the end of our hike up the Hancocks, north and south peaks, yesterday. We have had so much rain this brook normally is just just a trickle. We had at least 5 brook crossings that should have been easy but the water is running so high we had to wade across barefoot in the ice cold water a few times. It was a pain for us but Hershey was in heaven! :)

Hershey snoozing in the car after a 10 mile hike up 2 4000 footers and a stop at the ice cream shop for a small vanilla soft serve with a dogbone on top:)

Not my dogs, but it's a nice story: Luke Robinson lost his Great Pyrenees to cancer in 2006, and when he found out how little was known about cancer in dogs, he was inspired to do something. So he and his dogs Hudson and Murphy are walking 2000 miles, from Austin, TX to Boston, MA, to raise awareness and funds for canine cancer research. They stopped in Pittsburgh for a couple of days and had a meet-and-greet at lunchtime today, so I went to see them.

They average around 10 miles a day, less when it's hot. He tries to stay off the pavement as much as possible for the sake of the dogs' feet - he even has little booties for the dogs.

Here are photos of Luke and his dogs. If you want to learn more about them (maybe they'll even be coming to your town), their website is www.2dogs2000miles.org.

We lost our dog Sheba to cancer back in Dec. 2006, so this is near and dear to my heart. I found a lump on Charlie earlier this year; thankfully, it was just fatty tissue and not malignant. Sheba is the husky/shepherd on the left, Charlie the lab mix on the right:

that is about the cutest little thing!

Timmy is too adorable!! love that first pic...almost like it's a shot for a kitty dating service...:rotfl::lmao:

I agree, that baby Hedgehog makes me smile! :goodvibes

Timmy is really a great cat, he's so sweet. My DD18 said, "It looks like he's trying to get a tan!!" It's funny because Charlie (buff kitty) is usually the one that sleeps like that, Timmy usually is a curled up kind of guy..

A second later our girl cat jumped up on the bed and the boys just looked at her like, "this is a private BOY meeting-GO AWAY!" :rotfl:

I love looking at all the cute photos on this thread! :goodvibes

Here is our latest little one - his name is Feivish Finklestein. (Don't ask! It's my DH on a naming frenzy again) Feivish ("five -ish") is our fifth cat and he's 6 weeks old.

I must stop looking at these, I MUST stop looking at these! TOO FREAKIN CUTE!

I have been keeping my kitten addiction under control over the past year, but seeing this cute little guy just makes me want to relapse big time. :scared1: With 6 cats and 2 dogs already, if DH even knew I was having a single thought about getting another new kitty, I'd have no place to sleep tonight---he'd make sure of it. :rotfl2:

Omg....that is the cutest thing I have seen all day!! :goodvibes

Here are our 2 newest additions. They were 8 weeks old when we got them Easter weekend, so they are 4 months old now, and a lot bigger. I need to take some more recent pictures.
