George looks very good with his tiara!

Suzie explained our photo with "This is what happens when you don't have children..."

I love that explanation!!! That would be about right too. I was walking back from tending to a neighbor's while they are away and I realized how much I catered to George when he was with me... :)

Great pictures, everyone! :santa:

I have a small update on the cats. The kittens last night went to a man who rescues lots of different animals and already there is someone who's considering adopting one of them. (I was hoping the person would consider taking both but I guess you have to go with what you can in a situation like this.) The good thing is that he screens people and knows this person as really great with cats. We're going to visit them later today. It was hard for my friend who's been fostering to separate them from their Mom and bring them down there. We were both teary. :sad1:

Mama cat has been "adopted" by the local no-kill rescue, finally, but her situation is a little more complex since she had to have the kennel vaccine in her system for a week before she can go into the shelter; and my friend is going away Monday. So.. Monday she'll come here with us until Wednesday when she'll be spayed at my vet's, then come back here to recover, eventually going to the shelter. The interesting thing, though, is that I was going to take Mama cat last night but my friend wanted to keep her until Monday when she goes away, she lives alone and enjoys her company ;) and was worried Mama would be upset with her babies gone. She doesn't want a cat because she travels but she does seem to really care about Mama, so we'll see what happens with that.

At any rate, we will have our own little Cat Who Came For Christmas! :santa: (My poor dog, LOL. :scared1: )

That is great for the kitty family... safe loving places to come to them... granted Mama has to wait a little bit, and maybe the other baby, but they will be loved :goodvibes oh how I wish I could have another

Are we telling cat stories now?

Well, here is mine.

Two years ago, our cat, Maya, got real ill and she had to be put down. She was the only pet that DD had ever had and, although she knew that Maya was real sick and it was the right thing to do, she was crushed by it all. She made me promise that we would then get two kittens in case something happened to one of them, there would always be another. Well, where I work, there are numerous stray cats walking the woods. Sometimes they wander over our way and take up home in an old HUGE tire that is just inside the woods, very protected from any prey animals. Well about a year after Maya passed away, I happened to be walking around and spotted a kitten. When I returned with food, there were three kittens! Very young, no mother to be found. I decided I would catch them and give at least one away. So, how do I catch them? That was a good question. Well, the only way that I knew was to put a string on a stick with a box above it. Sort of "little rascals" style for those of us old enough to remember the little rascals. I put some tuna under the box and tied the string and hopped into my car. The area where they were was very close to the parking lot. I sat and waited until they came out. One by one, they went under the box. I pulled the string and by golly, I got them all in one shot! Well, I brought them home and watched them for a couple days. They were so attached to one another, that we couldn't let them part ways. We now have 3 cats. Smokey, Clover and Oreo. Oreo is the runt. Very timid, scared of her own shadow. To this day, she rarely goes outside. The other two love it outside. Anyways, here are some pics of them when they first arrived at our home.

Smokey dashed out of the box and into the first hiding spot he could find!

Oreo huddling on Smokey. She did this alot at first. He doesn't seem to mind much.

A man after my own heart - - - we now have nine with stories like yours. I am thrilled to hear stories like yours. Your daughter thinks like me!! Thank you for being my kind of people!! Cat lover that is!!

Happy Holiday to you and your family - - - and special little catnip mice for the furbabies!!

Oh, geez Andy! I see you're a softie for animals, too! :cat: :cat: :cat: Great pictures. Your DD definitely has the right idea. Having another pet onhand when one goes does soften the blow... I'm glad you were able to catch the three of them so easily (love the stick under the box idea, LOL). We spent an entire Saturday with traps trying to get our three out from under the shed!

Well we saw the kitties tonight all nice and comfy in their new digs. They let us hold them and even seemed pretty comfortable. One of them has found a home already, and the woman may actually take both of them, not sure. We also did a little Christmas shopping for Mama cat since we didn't want her to feel left out on Christmas morning. ;) She has a new bed, a nice big covered litter box and a few new toys. :santa: I think my dog was jealous, she was very much inspecting the goods, but her stocking's pretty full so she doesn't have much to worry about. We have a plan in place to see if we can begin to get her and Mama used to eachother. Wish me luck.

Speaking from experience - - - no problem - - cats rule - - - your dog will figure it out real quick - - kitty will win - and they will become best of friends - - See how quickly Tigger taught Jesse - - - Jesse had never been around cats before!

:lmao: They got alot of catnip mice that they will be getting at Christmas!

They are good cats, overall. Like I said, the runt is tough to get along with as she is just so skittish. When she lets me pet her, she usually leaves with a fury for some reason and tears me up with her claws along the way. She is fine with DW though. Doesn't even approach DD. The other two are just as lovable as they can be. No problems whatsoever.

When I was a kid, we ended up with 14 cats/kittens at one point. Thankfully they were quickly dispersed to other families until we had 4 left, but that was something I'll always remember!

I hope you and your family have a Happy Holiday too!

Take Care.

Yep, I love animals. I like dogs better, but they are so much work and I don't feel as though I would be able to spend the time with a dog that it really needs, so for now, we just have the cats. They are great though. I've always had cats, so I know how to care for them quite well. DD loves them to pieces!

Catching them is usually quite tough to do. I got lucky. Real lucky. We have caught over 10 cats from work in the 4 years I have been over there. They all have gone to good homes with the exception of 2 adult cats. They had to be brought to the shelter, where I believe they were eventually put down. Wild adult cats are hard to pawn off on someone. I sure didn't want them, although I was the only one able to pet them without a big honkin glove on my hand. I just reach in and pet them. If they don't like it, they will let me know. :scared1: I've never had one refuse me though. So far...

Yeah, they are great. Thanks! I have to get some more recent shots though. I'm sure that Smokey (gray cat) can not even fit his fat butt onto that cat hotel thing now. He would be hanging over the edge. The other two are full grown, but much more normal sized. I can't complain though. For getting three cats from the woods, they have turned out to be quite friendly overall. Sometimes Clover is annoyingly friendly! She tends to push open the bathroom door when you wouldn't want her to and rubs all over your legs!

Merry Christmas all you animal lovers - - glad to know my crazy is spread around !!
