Photobucket

Webshots used to delete my pictures of my scrapbook pages if it had any Disney stuff on it. Ummm, wasn't that WHY I was scrapbooking it? And the most annoying part was that is was a WDW postcard...and you could CLEARLY see the Disney copyright mark. Its not like a created a graphic & was trying to pass it off as my own. It was their card with their own copyright mark right on it.

Funny though, I used to see lots of other people with Disney stuff there that they made themselves. I got fed up with them & left.

I've been using another site for a couple of years now for scrapbook pages....and I've not had any troubles. They don't allow printing; just online sharing. But no linking to other websites for siggy pics. Goosh, do you know how many people have WDW scrapbook pages posted on the web? THOUSANDS.

My photobucket account just has regular photos in it. So far.

I downloaded about 1,000 pictures to Photobucket of our recent vacation to Walt Disney World. Now that they are there I am trying to label them and arrange them. So far I am finding the arranging part to be a little user UN-Friendly.

On other sites I have been able to click and drag the photos to where I want in my different albums, with Photobucket it appears that I have to re-label each one.

Is it pilot error and I am just missing something or is it not the best for this function

Any help would be greatly appreciated

This is the one thing I do not like about photobucket. Maybe they have this feature in the full membership version that you pay $25 a year for, but with the free version, no such luck. Unless someone else knows something I don't.

I've used photobucket for a year or so now to post pictures on here and it seems to take SOoooo long for them to download from my pc. I have DSL and I have 5 pictures I'm downloading right now (to message board size) and almost 45 minutes have gone by and it's just now on the 5th picture.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, I would say something is wrong. I have DSL as well and it takes very little time for me to upload photographs. We are talking huge files too.

I'm not using DSL but I'd say yes, you are experiencing something abnormal. How big are the files you are sending? Have you recently changed cameras? Do you have this problem only on Photobucket or do all uploads go slowly? Check your cabling to see if there is a physical problem (like a chair rolled over it or it's crimped, or the dog chewed on it). Unplug all the connectors and plug them back in. Reset your DSL modem (turn it off for 60 secs then turn it back on). If nothing helps, then either your DSL service is faulty or something is wrong with your Photobucket account.

I've had that problem, but not lately. Have you tried doing one at a time? I love your ME photos, btw!

the last few days i have been having problems downloading period..imo it takes longer than it should the more photos i have ie, 1 or 2 download relatively fast ( a min maybe) but anymore seem to take longer than it should proportionately, like up to 10mins...i have the pro version and that seems faster than the normal free version but still kind of long..i have dsl as well. when i download to something like shuttterfly it goes lots faster

It seems like my pictures have always taken a long time to download to photobucket, at least for the last 6 months, I don't really remember prior to that. Even when I do one at a time it takes probably 5-10 minutes. Well, at least I know it's me that has the problem so now I just have to figure out why.

Are there any other website that can be used for putting pictures on the DISboards?

Pea-n-Me, thanks!! Yours are great too, very "New England".:)

If photobucket is the only site doing this, try this trick a IT guy had me do once when I had a similar problem with a site. This may sound strange, but it has worked for me. First clear your history and cache. Then visit a bunch of random sites you would not normally visit. Then try photobucket again.

I know it sounds strange, but supposedly sometimes your computer can find a not so efficent path to a site, and it will be slow. However it remembers that and keeps using it until you basically force it to choose a new one. This happened to me with a site I frequented a few years ago. I have ben told it tends to happen with DSL and cable more. Also turning of your computer apparently will not do the trick.

Don't know if it will help you or not. It did me though.

Also, maybe check on the forums there on photobucket, and/or send their CS an email (I have in the past and quick response) asking if they have any ideas (if the above does not help)

I need advice.

I have tried smugmug - free trial and had a tough time uploading photos using the drop&drag and the browse methods - even after adjusting for size. I always use kodak gallery for prints and have no trouble without size adjustments so I doubt it is my dsl (?).

What are some opinions on the above services? or others I may not be familiar with?
Thanks!

I can't help on the Picassa, but I have used both photobucket and smugmug and smugmug wins hands down.

I am not sure why you were having trouble with the loader, mine works as advertised 99% of the time, once every great while it will shut down in the middle.

I use Picasa to manage my photos on my local PC, and also use it to upload photos to Snapfish for processing. It works very well for what I do.

I have played with the Picasa web albums as well and they seem to work pretty well, not very pretty, but it does allow for good organization and display of photos.

I have used Smugmug for 9 months and am very happy with it. I too had some problems with their uploader (actually it was more a problem of my ISP / modem handling large continuous upstream data).

They have other options for uploading, such as Smugbrowser (a firefox plugin), and "send to smugmug" a small file (for XP) that is pretty seamless. Since I've begun using these I've had very few issues.

Shameless plug time: If you join Smugmug and want to use a discount code, mine is ERL3sXeBwNopQ, and will save you $5 off the yearly fee.

Smugmug

I actually was lucky enough to be a beta tester waaay back when and still don't get charged :cool1: Their support and up time is hard to beat. They even have a forum for photography and smugmug talk(issues, support for hacks, general questions)..... dgrin.com

I've been a smugmug user for about a year, it's my favorite by far. The simplicity of the URL is really nice. I can give the URL to family over the phone and they can remember it without even having to write it down. Not try of picassa, flickr or any of the others I've tried.

I also like that I can display individual photos here or on other message boards without a lot of fuss and know that it will always work.

As for uploading, if you are a windows user give the upload to smugmug tool a try. It will upload a folder full of photos to a new or existing gallery.

I thought I'd visit this great board again after seeing the pics from bradk of spectro parade on themeparks board, they are really nice. had to find out what smugmug is! So ya gotta pay for it, huh?

on my work pc it takes a while for photobucket pics to download so I can see them, so I am wondering why the smugmug ones I have seen don't need to load (like, bam! there they are!) Why is that? :confused3

Seems to me smugmug is the "cat's you know what", huh? :thumbsup2

I am not a heavy web user of pictures, but my Photobucket has been fine for me. I mainly use it for the DIS and to show off pics to family and friends. Using the Flock browser and the upload tool in it has made it much easier to use. I also have started to resize my images in Irfanview before uploading and then selecting the upload without modification setting from Flock. You have to be sure that you have your options set correctly on your actual account, but when you do it this way, they look a little sharper. Plus, it is all free.

Kevin

P.S. Flock is basically a re-skinned version of Firefox. All the same plug-ins work for it and you can have both loaded on your system at the same time.
