Who do u guys use for photo books? For larger books that is not just say 20 pages of ur best shots. I like to make a book for each year since our first kid was born. I also started making a book for each trip. I have been using iPhoto and I'm happy but was wondering if there is a better quality option out there.

Any input especially for those who have used iPhoto and maybe someone else.

What I like about iPhoto is its local creation and then uploaded but I'm not against cloud built books either.

Thanks!
Jimi

I get my printed books from Blurb.

Funny u say that I just read a review comparing them. Seemed that the spines on the iphotobook was better they felt. They felt quality was similar. U make em through lightroom?

The vacation books I have made are printed using adoramapix. I am happy with the quality and the price is pretty good.

Interesting. I may have to try one of the iPhoto books for comparison of quality. I've never printed one with them, how much control do they give you in layout, typesetting, etc? I use Blurb's InDesign plug in because it lets the fanatical control freak in me have her way.

The templates are preset types. 2 diff 1 pic per page, 4 diff 2 pic per page, 6 diff 3 pic per page, 10 diff 4-16 page layouts. I have never had a problem with layout. Spaces to type in are preset for the diff types of layout templates. Never had a complaint there either. The fonts are the standard apple ones that a mac comes with. that's it. there are diff preset themes but i always use the contemporary one cause it is straight lines and black background so the pics pop.

I guess I'm just looking for better quality but maybe it's me and the quality of paper is paper since they aren't photo paper pages.

Quality control has been kinda a problem. It took them 4 tries to get a book to me that didn't have lines going down various pages. they said it was due to the print shop that they were using for some. i guess they get printed by more than one company who apple uses. that was the one thing that kinda got me. cause then quality might be diff if printed by someone else, but seems they are all the same. i have 5 now. look the same. only the one was a quality control issue. they were great about it. actually let me keep one of the messed up ones and kate has it now as a picture book. she is happy with the quality. lol

I think its worth a try. The layout is all done online and very easy to use. I think I have done 4 books in total with them and have 0 complaints.

For prints I use them and Mpix. Quality is very similar. Mpix comes out dead on to my monitor and Adorama is very very close. I usually end up with Adoramapix because of the cheaper shipping.
