Thank you both. Those were with my 'normal' birding rig - my A580, with Minolta 300mm F4 APO lens and matched APO II 1.4x teleconverter. I was on multipoint focus, center-weighted metering, 5fps burst mode, AF-C mode for tracking. I do a lot of birding - pretty much every weekend, but I don't bother to share too many of the results here or this would become a bird thread rather than a Sony thread! I figured the harrier was something even non-birders might enjoy as they're pretty cool birds.

Justin, I follow your fantastic bird shots in DPR! I still can't believe the ones you get from the Nex.

Fractal, I'm glad to see some shots from my area, NOLA! It's a great place to people watch once you get past the smell. Lol! If you're ever back around here, let me know and we can meet up.

You betcha! I was there last year on a "guys golf trip" so not sure when I'll get back but if I do I'll let you know. Beautiful area and so rich in history. I'm at the point that I would have given up the golf to spend more time touring and photographing.

Here's a few more from the Big Easy...

Fractal, you're making me want some bananas foster with that last shot! Where was that? I was going to guess Court of 2 Sisters brunch buffet? The food is the thing we miss most when out of town. Lol

The food was amazing! It was not Court of 2 Sisters, although we did have dinner there...

Our breakfast that day at Brennan's...

We were upstairs in the "Rex" room...

The banana's foster was dessert served ala mode. The main course was a version of eggs benedict served on a delicious grilled biscuit...

I was also going to say Brennan's because they were the ones who started Bananas Foster. They recently closed that restaurant due to the family feuding. The Brennan family owns a bunch of restaurants here including the nationally famous Cammander's Palace. Did y'all try Muriel's in Jackson Square? I could go on and on about our restaurants.:thumbsup2 I hope you had some beignets and coffee! I love checking out the art around Jackson Square on Sundays. Anyway, I'm enjoying your photos.

I wonder how that new lower res EVF on the A6000 really looks. I had the A7 for about a week in December but just wasn't impressed with the camera. Shooting them side by side, I was more comfortable with the Fuji I ended up keeping.

Did that Brennan's have any connection to Dickie Brennan's? We had perhaps the best steak ever there a few years ago. But the Banana's Foster was at Court of 2 Sisters the night before. :goodvibes

Camera has been ordered and should be here tomorrow :cool1: The lenses are another story. Bought a Sigma 50mm f1.4 from B&H and a Sigma 17-35 on Amazon and both are comign out the the Northeast and just my luck mother nature might be putting a delay on my packages shipping today

Thanks HPS3! We did have lunch and drinks at Muriel's - unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me - but I believe I did take some pics w/ my phone. ?? I'm eagerly awaiting a full review of the A6000 - isn't it great ( although potentially expensive ) that we have all these choices?

Good luck with the camera! Looking forward to seeing some photos from it.

So the A6000 is taking the place of both the Nex 6 and 7?

Thank you, I cant wait to get my hands on it

Yes Dickie Brennan's is a member of the Brennan restaurant empire. Best steaks!

Mike, I'm looking forward to your review of the A99. I also heard great reviews of the Sigma 50.

Nice shots Havoc - really like the dog! Great detail.

I'm with you on the snow - found out late Wednesday that my snowblower was busted so yesterday I had to shovel 12+ inches, only to have another 6-8 fall last night. The kids loved it though...

I would rather have stayed here...

What makes kids want to lie down on a massive snow pile??

Mike... all these shots are the 28-75. I think I need to keep tweaking the focus microadjust, but it's a nice lens.

Since New Orleans seems to be the big subject here the past few pages (I loved looking through all the shots...I miss living there!)...and we have a Nawlins contact here...I have to ask: Is Mosca's still around over on the west bank? I used to love that joint - every time I'd take friends or relatives there they'd think I was nuts - a thousand great restaurants all over the Quarter and uptown, and I'm driving them over the bridge and into literally the middle-of-nowhere, to some seedy little joint that looks like mob-transactions are occurring in the back of the building. But once they ate the food...they were converted!
