Well, last night I pushed my NEX5 to its limits. I LOVE the video capability of this camera. DS is in the jazz band at his college, and I've taped his concerts before. But last night's concert was the longest - 6 pieces. I stopped recording when each piece was done and didn't record while the director was talking about each piece. In order, each piece was 5:06, 9:04, 5:48, 7:04, 4:23 and 3:19. About 1/2 way through the next-to-last song (the one that's 4:23), I saw a yellow "overheating" warning in the viewfinder. It stayed on until the song was done, when I stopped The recording. I waited while the director talked about the last song, and then I pushed the record button again for the last song. And it made it all the way thru the last song, no overheating warning or anything.

When I took the camera off the tripod, it was extremely warm where the lens joins the camera body. DH thinks maybe I was panning too much and making the autofocus work too hard? Or maybe it was just too much recording with only 1 or 2 min breaks between songs?

The video turned out fantastic, even the song when the overheat warning was displaying.

So take this as a warning if you'll be using the video on your NEX! Watch out for overheating.

As far as I know, the Nex 5n and 7 are prone to overheating. I don't think it's the AF. I think it's the shutter staying open but in not sure.

I just got back from the World last week and just started going through photos. Right before my trip I got a Nex 7, Sigma 17-50 f2.8, and Tokina 11-16. I didn't get to shoot as much as I wanted due to chasing my 2 DD's around most of the time. I'm going to start posting some of my pics as I get to them. I'll start on my first day. My DD had to get her face painted like a princess Kitty in AK.

I just got a Sony Alpha A65 and I'm learning photography... Well, learning how to use the camera. I'm nowhere near as good as you guys are, but I'm still learning. This time last week, I couldn't have told you anything related to cameras... LoL!

Here's one that I really like:

Good capture. Isn't it just so peaceful when they're sleeping! I'm still learning also. Keep posting pics. We need some more Alpha users on here.

Hey Bill, I'm not sure if I am going or not. Are you going to be there Sunday? Last year the Strawberry Festival was sooo hot and crowded. I came home with 4 flats of strawberries. My BIL boiled the crawfish Sunday and they were kinda of small. We boiled 5 sacks and had about 2 left over. Tonight I used half of my leftovers and made some Crawfish Pasta. Tomorrow I will be making crawfish and corn soup. Whenever I go on vacation the one thing I miss from home is the food.

Just got a NEX-5N a couple of days ago. Got it with the anticipation of taking tons of (hopefully great) pics at WDW during our Nov. trip! :cool1:

And I just found this forum and I can't wait to read through all the posts to learn all the tips you guys have. This is great! I'm coming mostly from and point-and-shoot background.

Just wanted to say "hi"!

Can't decide if we're going Saturday or Sunday. Now we're trying to decide if when we leave Ponchatoula, are we going to drive in to Nawlins and go to the French Quarter festival! I think I'm gaining weight just thinking about all the food I'm going to eat this weekend!

I blame all this good food down here for my weight:)! Monday I made Crawfish pasta and last night crawfish and corn bisque. God I love my seafood. The FQF sounds good this weekend.
