Panasonic G3, 45-175@ 45

UPS left me an Olympus 45mm f/1.8 today, a nice little low light and portrait lens. This tiny lens makes a Canon 50 f/1.8 look huge! The price makes a Canon 50 look cheap. ;)

DXOmark has been testing some micro 4/3 lenses lately and the better ones have compared well to some highly regarded 35mm lenses.

Really cool shot.

I really want the 45mm. I was planning on getting the Oly m40 -150 but I think I'll get more use out of the prime.

I normally like to use zoom lenses, but the 45mm has hardly been off of my E-PL2 since I got it, although I haven't had much chance to photograph much of anything lately.:sad2:

We did finally have winter on Monday with a couple of inches of snow (our largest snowfall of the season) and I took some highly unscientific test shots of some flowers blooming against the snow using the Pen with the 45mm, the E600 with the 12-60 and the E420 with the 25mm. I haven't had a chance to download them yet, but I'm anxious to see them side by side. The snow didn't last long - it was 71 the next day.

Most of next week is forecast to be in the 70's and it's really starting to look like spring all of a sudden.

I've preordered the silver OM-D with the 12-50! I'll be selling all of my 4/3 gear, but it hurts to get rid of the 12-60 and the 50mm, although the 50mm will be going to my nephew who is taking a photography course in high school and has bought his teacher's old Oly 510, so I could borrow it if I want.:good vibes The OM-D looks to be a fantastic camera and I like what I've seen so far.

Yes, we are still alive and kicking

For anyone interested DPReview has high ISO samples for the OM-D. The samples all the way up to ISO 12800 looked very usable. It wasn't until ISO 25600 that there really started to be very bad image noise.

I can only image what this camera can do with the 45mm f/1.8 or the 12mm f/2!! Guess it's time to start saving the pennies.

These are the good times for micro 4/3!
Olympus is shipping the EM-5 and it is only the first of the OM-D series. Their 75 mm f/1.8 should be a nice fast medium telephoto lens.

Panasonic may soon release their high end lenses, 12-35 and 35-100, both expected to be f/2.8 throughout the range. Panasonic also leaked news of a G5 and GF5.

Voigtlander has a 25 mm f/0.95 and now a 17.5 mm f/0.95 and these are actually affordable (sort of).

Micro 4/3 is as bad for my credit card as Canon's "L" series was! ;)

I was so happy to see one of these shots turn out, I must have taken 100 of them!

Direct sunlight, moving target, only smiling half the time. He's not looking *at* me, but really, what more could I ask for?

Come on you guys, I am on a budget! :headache: :rolleyes1

My E-30 has been feeling neglected recently so I trotted it out for a studio shoot with some member of the Philly SmugMug group. This with the 50-200mm

Who says we can't get shallow depth of field in micro 4/3 ?

Lol! I am selling all my DSLR cameras and lenses to finance my OM-D. It's going to hurt to sell the 12-60, but that's one I have to sell in order to get enough money.

My nephew bought an E-510 from his high school photography teacher and he loves the 70-300mm. I gave him first dibs on it at a real good price + some work around my yard this spring ;), but he's also very interested in the 40-150mm and the 50mm. I think DD wants to keep my 520 so I could borrow that from her and the 50mm from my nephew if I want to use that lens again.:)

I've never felt as comfortable with the 600 as I did with the 520 so not really sorry to see it go. DH will get the E-PL2 and I'll sell his P&S. My nephew also bought my Kata bag so I bought a small backpack I've admired from Jill-E to replace it. My Crumpler is also going.

Yesterday Olympus announced a freebie for anyone buying the OM-D. The new weather sealed adapter, the OM adapter or the Fl-300R. I'm going to get the flash and use it remotely and also DH can use it on the Pen. I think I can just call Adorama and add it to my preorder.

You can order from Adorama using the Mr. Rebates website and get 4% cash back. I used ebates for a 2% cash back - didn't know about the other site until yesterday. It saves a little bit.

Great shot! I'll have to check and see if we have a SmugMug group here.

:lmao:

I've decided to get the 45mm f/1.8. and just wait a bit for the OM-5

You'll love it!

Which ship is that? Did you use Topaz Adjust for post processing?

One of the shots on my "Sping Has Sprung" series on my blog yesterday. Use the link in my signature if you want to see the rest.

Cute! Is it a Yorkie? I need to take more of my dogs. I don't think our pug will be with us much longer.:sad2: He's 14 and steadily declining.

That is the Disney Wonder pool deck. I adjusted this in LR and then took it into Photomatix for a few final tweeks. I do use Adjust on some shots, but not this one.

Yes that is our Yorkie Riley. He loves to be outside and play so I use him a lot for my model when I want to try something new.

You have got to love Adorama!! I ordered the Oly 45mm 1.8 yesterday afternoon using the free shipping option. I checked the UPS tracking and it is scheduled to be delivered today!!

Granted it is only going from NJ to Delaware but that is fast!!

Congratulations on your new lens!
I really want the Olympus hood for mine but it is not available at any of the places I buy from (B&H, Amazon, Adorama). It is about $40 too, these guys make Canon hoods look like a bargain!
