Photo Sharing: Olympus, 4:3, Micro 4:3

There have been some great pics here!

Joe, too cool!

Kim, how is Felix doing?

Well after all this time of wanting a PEN we finally have one coming into the house. Technically it's my son's :rolleyes1 but we'll be sharing equipment as we always have, lol. I'm excited. A friend bought one too. I am going to have to get an adaptor so we can use the Oly lenses on it. Thank you for the Costco tip on the other thread, Lynn!

Have a nice Thanksgiving everyone!

You're welcome! Will you have it before Thanksgiving tomorrow? We'll be at my sister's and I'm looking forward to taking lots of pics. We had a big crowd here Sunday and I only took a few because of everything else needing to be done. It gets a little crazy with 8 dogs in my kitchen.;)

Enjoy your new PEN!

That's fantastic! Do you get to keep the Pen? Are you expected to post your pictures taken with it? How did they get your name?

Thanks!!

Yes, as far as I know I get to keep it. I'm supposed to post photos on the PEN Ready site which I linked in my previous post. They will be under photographer #834

They got my name from the Get Olympus Facebook page. I post a lot of images there that normally get some good feedback. They contacted me through a FB message yesterday.

Topdog.....those are some really cool street images. What lens did you use?

Comgrats on the new gear!!! Which PEN did you get? I assume Oly makes the adapter?

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Joe - Lucky you for being selected to receive the PEN E-PM1. I just recently purchased the camera for myself and so far I love it. Haven't taken many pics yet (only of my 3 cats). But will be at Disney next Friday for my 1st time with the decorations. The whole reason I purchased the camera.

The micro 4/3 thread hasn't been getting much love lately but that is about to change! DW and I just got back from a 7th wedding anniversary trip to WDW and the only cameras we took were our new Panasonic G3s. I had about two weeks of playing with the G3 but DW's had just arrived a day before we left. Talk about learning on the fly... ;)

Anyway, a photo trip report is coming soon, along with how the little "SLRs" performed. For now here is one from Main Street on one of the few days when the flagpole is removed.

A couple of my first shots with the E-PM1 taken at Longwood Gardens near Philadelphia. I like this camera so much that I may leave the E-30 at home when we head down for marathon weekend in January.

boBQuincy, you have some beautiful shots from your little camera! You too, Joe!

Okay, I'm going to quit stressing over what I'm taking with me to WDW on Wednesday. I've been going back and forth over whether to leave the DSLR at home and had finally convinced myself that I would take both, along with my 70-300mm lens. I even bought a new bag to hold it all, but when it came and I loaded it up and put it on -- it was way too big for what I want to carry.

Soooo, after seeing your pictures and knowing I was perfectly happy with m4/3's in London and Disneyland, I'm leaving the big stuff at home.

I've built up a pretty good travel kit and will be taking with me:

E-PL2 with EVF2
14-150mm
20 f/1.7
9-18mm
FL-36R (which I've never used on the E-PL2)
travel tripod
remote shutter release

My new bag will be going back to Amazon. My VB backpack purse will double as my camera bag as it did in London and DL. DH will have a backpack so he can carry a lens or two if I need him to.

Now if I could just figure out everything else to take with us. And get all the Christmas stuff done before we leave! But at least I can quit stressing about what camera gear to bring.

This could be the start of a movement! ;) For the past few years I have seen many more dSLRs at WDW but now it may start turning to mirrorless. The little cameras have taken a big piece out of dSLR market share in Japan and less in Europe but in the US it is just getting started.
Both Panasonic and Olympus are soon releasing some high-end walkaround lenses in the 12-60 range with wide apertures, previously the domain of dSLRs.

Bob, be sure to link your Trip Report here!

My son's PEN arrived two weeks ago and I'd like to acknowledge that I haven't so much as peeked in the box. It's killing me. :bitelip:

Yeah, see previous page. We got the EPL1 w/ two lens package from Costco which was a good deal. (Thanks again, Lynn.) I used one back on 4th of July and I liked it a lot, so much like the other Oly gear I have. DS14 and I have agreed to share all of our gear, which we really do anyway. The only thing he wanted for XMas was a video camera, so this made sense and he's excited about it, too. He can also take photography in high school next year so that will be good for him to learn the right way, aside from the basics I've taught him over the past several years. (I suppose I'll have to find an old film SLR somewhere!) He's got natural ability so I hope he'll grow with this - it's such a great skill to have.

How are you loving your EPM1? What a great thing that was, huh? :goodvibes

Very cool that he has taken an interest in something that you both can share together.

I didn't think that I'd like the PEN so much because of the lack of a built in viewfinder but I really like this little camera. Now I need to talk the DW into getting the 45mm f/1.8 and one of the telephoto lenses :rolleyes1
