photo sharing: HDR

I'm not sure if this is considered true HDR or not. But I was just playing around with the concept last night and did this. I wasn't specifically going for HDR, but I think it works.

This was bracketed, I just shot in raw and brought out the buildings in photoshop.

Here are a few "underdone" HDRs as I like them:

call me dumb but what is HDR?
Is it editing or a different way to shoot? Is it a setting or a totally different camera?

dont feel bad I didnt know what it was either. so glad you asked the question. I'm sure I would be able to do it either lol

This is the first I'm hearing of it and I'm floored by your guys pictures! I just keep sitting here saying WOW! Is there a tutorial on this at all?

Probably the most information on the web on HDR is from Trey (Stuck in Customs). There are some good books (including the ones from RockyNook) on HDR and Photomatix web site also has some information and a free download of the (trial) software.

I believe this type of imaging is still in it's early stages and will rapidly continue to improve. We have enough pixels but we are still way short on dynamic range, HDR is a great way to capture more of a scene than a single image can.

These photos really look more like what the human eye sees when looking at something. (Well, excet for the fake looking ones -- those are more like art.) I want to learn how to do this too.

This is my first attempt at a HDR shot. What do you think?
I took separate shots and merged using photomatix.

Not too sure what all the adjustment sliders are supposed to do, as i haven't read the instructions yet.

this looks pretty good. sometimes HDR photos can look crazy with different saturated colors but this looks realistic and interesting

I like it very much. Not overdone, but just dramatic enough. You have stunning scenery to work with where you live! Many years ago, what we had planned as a few day trip to Wales ended up as a two week-long holiday. We were so captivated by the beauty of the country, as well as the beauty of the people.
Please share more.

I like it because it doesn't look fake, but I'm just wondering how it would look if you recovered the detail in the shadows more,

Not a photographer, so I dont even know what HDR is ...but if I hadn't read you merged pics together, I would have thought that was one actual scene. Its gorgeous :)

It is one scene that has been photographed at 3 different exposures. You then merge your shots together with software to produce the effect.
I quite like it and I think it could become addictive.

Hello everyone..... I was speaking to a buddy of mine today that's also involved in photography, and he had shown me a couple of his HDR photo's. I was talking to him about the Disboards and some of the beautiful HDR photo's that I have seen on here.:worship: So him being new to the boards, and me not knowing on which threads exactly that they all were,.... I figured I would ask if some of you would post a couple of them here, for him to see ??:thumbsup2 So come on you guys and gals lets see them !!:cool1:
