New to this bb on DIS and still trying to figure out my new Rebel XS



Do I need to have my IMG saved through a site(photobucket, flicker etc)?

To answer, yes, you must upload to one of the photo hosting sites and then post using BB img tags or by using the yellow img icon on the top of the message. One thing I did find out is that in flickr, you have to use the link that has farm in it and not the one that they tell you to use so photobucket might be better for DIS.

I just bought my first DSLR about a month ago. Here's a couple of my pics (first time sharing, so be gentle!), one of my fiance and another of the a building from the Chinese gardens at the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena, CA

New to photography board, but not DIS. I figured I'd post a pic on here now and then as I'm just taking up the hobby of photography (other than snapping pics of friends and family) and loving it! I have no experience and welcome any advice to help better my hobby. I am well versed with photoshop though so that helps a little!

I was pretty stoked about getting this right - I wanted to focus past a fence and shoot a pic of some owls at a local aviary. The color is a little bright but I wasn't as worried about the settings for getting the correct color as I was just trying to get rid of the fence - I know I can mess with the color later. They are located behind a fence and under an intense red heat lamp. It was about 5pm on a pretty cold day here in MD and I didn't have my tripod handy. I was shooting with my Canon Rebel and using a Sigma 70-300mm lens. I know this is for the Canon POTD so I figure I'll just post pics here from time to time for now since I don't have any fabulous WDW pics yet.

If this was shot in RAW the color temperature could be changed.

Not sure why I didn't and I didn't even check it until I got home and loaded them - frustrating but I'll live and learn - hopefully . In B&W it's not too bad, but I plan to go out on a day when it's not so cold and try to practice some more anyway. Then those heat lamps won't even be on !

Check your software, mine changes temperature with JPEG. I have a Mac, in iPhoto I can change the temperature.

Very nice---I love tulips. Daffodils and tulips are my favorite sign of the nice warm spring weather.

This is the first photo Ive posted since I purchased my new Rebel XS. It was taken with the Kit lens, 18-55 and a UV filter. I bought the camera last week and ended up buying a 55-250 4-5.6 IS lens as well. I look forward to taking it with me on the next family trip, possibly first week of July.
