There are plenty of options out there. Those were just a couple off the top of my head; one of which I have used. But Sigma and Tamron make nice, cheaper lenses too. And a good prime lens can be nice to have for the dark rides. I have a Sigma 30mm that i just love. But a lot of people really like the Canon 50mm f/1.8; plus it's only $99.

Another lens you might want to have a look at is the Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens.

The Canon 50mm f/1.8 was too good of a deal to pass up so I ordered one! Hopefully it comes by Friday so I can take it out for some practice this weekend!
