Photo release form

I didnt know you needed this to copy pictures...
Hmmm~ No wonder the WalMart wouldn't let me copy my Medieval Theatre pictures from last summers vacation... They kept asking me for a release form...
I'll be sure to download this form, thanks ladies! :)

What's the need for the form? I took my Shutters pictures to Eckerds, and they copied them for me. I checked before I took them in: they did not bear the usual statement: "Professional photograph; do not copy."

I didn't have formal night pictures made -- perhaps that's why?

They are supposed to check for a release on any professional portrait. Reason being is photographers make their living off of the picutres, many do not want to give you a release but want you to order reprints and enlargements from them. Due to the volume on the ship (my assuption here not based on fact btw) it would be impracticle to save all the negatives, I would guess that they figure if you pay the $20.00 for the 8x10 you are free to make copies of it.
If you go to a place like CVS, Walmart etc that has the picture place machine, they are suppossed to have a lock out code that an employee must put in after they have seen what you are copying. If it looks professional they by law are suppossed to ask for a release or decline to copy it.

Walgreens had no problem copying them.........although I do live in poe dunk Indiana........

True, many copy machines in Md. (CVS, Walmart, Target, BJ's, etc.) require a code that the Customer Service Rep. must put in. When making copies I always carry my release form. Most businesses will tell you straight up, there is something like a $500 fine for reprinting pix w/o release. Better safe than sorry. ;)

All of the Photo Maker machines around here have a notice about the legal requirements of a release for professional photos.

I had forgotten my release form when I went to copy my pictures from last year and get wallet size pics made. The sales associate would not allow me to print the pictures until I had the release in hand.

I understand copywrite laws, BUT my pictures are not marked professional. I have lots of professional pictures (from lots of places) that are marked on the back with something like "Professional Portrait -- do not copy." My pictures from the Disney Wonder have NO SUCH DESIGNATION. I checked before I had them copied at Eckerds. Is this a fluke? Do other people's pictures from other weeks have such a notation?

I can't really buy the idea about pictures that "look professional." I teach photography, and some of my pictures (sorry to brag, but it's true) do look professional -- of course, I have the negatives or the digital media, so there'd never really be a question.

While it is true that the pictures are not marked copyrighted and do not copy, they are still a professional picture. The stores in my area that have the machines will not allow you to copy them without the release.

It is generally obvious when pictures have been taken in a professional setting (such as the formal night, semi-formal, etc. pictures.)

I agree that photographers by hobby can take some very professional looking pictures (I am a photographer by hobby) generally when they want their pictures copied they do it from the negative. I guess it's a judgment call by the sales associate, but again, at least it has been my experience that you cannot use the picture making machines without the release.

I can't get the link for the release form to work. I get to the post-cruise page and click on Disney Magic. Then I get an error message: 404 Not Found
The requested URL /\DisneyMagicCopyrightRelease.pdf was not found on this server.

Anybody have any ideas?

Peace,
