So we think we found out photographer...but here's my question...we won't be doing an album because it's really expensive. The picture we've seen of his are amazing so we will just be getting everything on disc...in the contract it states that his pictures we get on the disc are not retouched or color corrected at all...we are still paying just over $2900...do you think that's worth it when nothing is being done to the pictures? I mean don't you think the pictures we see we love because they are being retouched and color corrected? I need some major input and advice.

Please help we really can't make any decisions!

Did you shop around at all? Call other photographers who have comparible work and ask what their prices are.

I think you're right. For that price I would expect some editing, esp when you aren't getting any prints from them!

We are paying 1k for Misty and just getting the disc. However, the CD is still touched up and has all of the effects that you would get if you get if you got the entire package with the album, and this is for 6 hours of covergae. So I perosnally think that cost is outrageous. You may as well go with Disney photography then.
Before you make any chages, I would confirm if that is the case, and if the contract is outdated or wrong, have them update it before you sign.

That really seems outrageous for what you get so make sure there is not a misunderstanding?

Good luck!!!

We paid the Roots a little more than half what you're being quoted and they color-corrected and retouched all 1,535 images. :thumbsup2

We loved the Roots! I just e-mailed them...they quoted me a lot higher price than I wanted (prob is the way our day is set up we need like 7 hours)...but hopefully they will come down because we really want to hire them! They showed me your pictures and I was like I know her! They said they are meeting you out in LA soon! haha!

You should talk to them, they are very willing to switch things around. I have 7 hours, an album, and a cd of all images for 3500. I toyed with the idea of not having an album and they said I could take away 750 dollars from the total. I have heard they recently changed their pricing and I think I got in before they did that. However you should talk to them before you cut them out.

I cut out the engagement album & an hour of photography. They credited toward the other stuff.

2900 & no retouched pics on the disc? You can definitely get something cheaper.

I'm not sure if you considered Randy Chapman yet?

We payed less than half of what you were quoted and got:
3 Albums
2 discs with all our pics
5x7's, 8x10's and an 11x17

He also stayed with us for most of the day, from 12 noon to 10pm.

he has different packages that you can chose from so if you don't want albums, I'm sure that will be even cheaper.

Please don't pay more than you should!!! So many brides here have amazing pics and have not spent 1/2 that much.

Hope that helps!:goodvibes

What package did you have with randy?

We have booked him for package #3 which was $2175, we then decided that it would cost too much in customs etc... for him to send over the albums so we asked if we could get the same coverage but only get the cd at the end. The cost for this is now $1700 - we are having him about the same times as you did.

Just a note - Randy does not do color-correction or photo retouching on every picture. He does do Photoshop special effects on some of the pictures. It's just something to know if that's important to you, but it also means he can keep his prices extremely affordable! :goodvibes

Would you know if I get the cd and the rights if it is possibe to do these things to the images ourselves before printing them?

That's interesting, his prices must definitely have gone up becuase i don't remember #3 being that expensive!

If I remember correctly, we chose #5, but we took out a few things. I didn't have the engagement photos or the wallets. We just kept the albums, black & whites & 2 developed photos of 3 different sizes.

I'll be honest, we we're really not interested in the touched-up photos so maybe that's why we weren't charged as much????

I'll have to dig up my contract, but I'm pretty sure we didn't spend more than $1,600.

Even so, paying $1,700 is pennies compared to what some of my friends have paid here in NYC. The most recent I can remember is one of my friends who's photographer took no more than 600 pics, 50 of which she could download on her iphone, 1 album & a CD. Total=$4,000:scared1:

Well once I got my CD's I downloaded them all on Picassa and if we any want to retouch them at any point we can!!! Also, if you know how to work Photoshop then you can just do it yourself for free!

Yes! If you have the hi-res images on CD (or DVD) you can work on them in Photoshop yourself. Also, if you print them at www.mpix.com, they do basic photo-retouching for free and more extensive retouching for a charge. :thumbsup2

FABULOSO !!! thanks chicks
