i'm creating a document with mixed pictures and text.
what dpi do i need to create the pdf file in, so the pics will look crisp and clean. The pages are going to 11x17, but the biggest individual pic is less than a 1/4 of that size.

Any help please. I don't have a printer that prints that big, so i'm heading to a store to get it done thur, fri, and don't want to have to go back and forth from home to the store a couple times.

Anyone know a great place to make lots of copies of 11x17?

Thanks

Three megapixel is enough for that. I don't know what dpi that translates into. There is a formula, but I don't remember it.

300 DPI is what you're looking for. The number of megapixels matter yes, but a 12 MP image printed at only 72 DPI in a large size will look pixelated, so for DPI for printing, 300 is what photographers use.

Good luck with your project!
Chris

While 300 DPI is standard, you could get away with 200~250, depends on the picture if it's clear and sharp.
