I don't normally read this forum, but as author of the Definitive Guide to PhotoPass, I figured I'd step in and address a few things, but because this thread goes back aways, I'll only handle the last page:
I ordered mine a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to only have to pay 2.00 shipping. I only had two disks this time so maybe it depends on how many disks they have to mail.
Shipping for PhotoCD at this time is $2 regardless of the number of CDs. Previously it was $7. The shipping fees for all products is listed in the Help section of the website.
I went to the photopass site and saw the CD for $59.95. There was even a 15% or $15 discount the other day, its not available anymore.
...
Could it be this low because these are
Disneyland photos?
One other note/question. The 4 photos are about to expire. I have another trip (WDW this time) planned shortly after the expiration date. Does anyone know if and how the time frame for purchasing can be extended? If I am going to spend 60 plus bucks I would want to have more than 2 photos to buy.
Yes, Disneyland PhotoCDs are $59.95 because they have just 2 parks that have PhotoPass as opposed to WDW which has up to 6. Once you add WDW photos, the price will go up accordingly.
Extensions can be purchased in 7 and 15 day blocks. You'll find extensions listed in the products list.
I am at 14 days and still no email. I also received the photopass thingy in my documents and registered it and it did nothing - but I also don't have any pictures on there to put on a CD yet - so maybe that has something to do with it?
I plan on calling at the 10 day mark to see if I can get the $50 savings. I am going with a large group this year and plan on utilizing photopass a lot - especially at the xmas party!
The card included with travel documents is to ensure they have your email on file and that you consent to receiving additional offers via email. This will most certainly not get you $50 off the PhotoCD (although it may get you some) and no offers are guaranteed at all. Offers may come before, during or after your vacation.
The fact that you have no photos has nothing to do with it. 99.99% of those who receive the offer won't have photos in their account when they get it.
Well we have an interesting problem. We booked through Southwest vacations but my parents booked through Disney. I told my mom to look out for the email and sure enough one came, however the links don't go anywhere. You click on them and nothing. We tried in different browsers, email programs, etc. So I did a view page source to see the html code, what little I learned in college, and in place of where the links should be it says nofollow! That goes for all the links in the email, none of the links do anything, here's the cut/paste...
Code:
<blockquote type="cite" cite=""><img src="http://thanks.disneyparks.com/icp/prearrival/images/photopass.gif" alt="thanks.disneypark/0701AA2B.gif" width="152" height="112"></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite="">The fun way to capture
magical memories. This service gives you a no-hassle way to get the
best pics possible...taken by Disney Park Photographers.<br>
<a rel="nofollow"><span></span>Click Here For Details</a></blockquote>
So my questions are... does someone have a link in their email we can try? I mean I assume it will want her to log in or something and she does have a WDW trip booked. Secondly, what number should she call to fix this? Thanks!!
nofollow is actually an attribute that tells search engines to not follow that link in particular for ranking purposes (mostly Google). although it doesn't make much sense to have it in an email, it's undoubtedly there to make sure that if someone does post the content of the email somewhere, that Google won't index the discount page.
In any case, it doesn't affect your email or browser from clicking the link. Many email clients disable links automatically from unknown or senders not marked as safe by default for security reasons. Although if that is literally your email, the real problem is that the href portion which tells the browser where to go is missing, so you don't have a functioning link, nofollow or not.
What number did you call to ask for the discount? Thanks!
