Photo Pass now worth it?? Or No?

With all of new restrictions due to Covid-19, do you think the Disney PhotoPass is worth it for 5 days in the parks?

We had it for our mid-September visit since we had a credit from a rescheduled trip earlier this year...and I was kinda ticked off at how very few ride shots we got out of it. And our masks were always on all the time so it wasn't that. There are still a good bit of photopass photographers around the parks, but I really only ever get it to have those ride shots....we probably ended up with 1/3 of the ones that were taken and we saw when exiting the ride. They just never showed up in the account.

We plan to get it for our 8 day trip, but that's because this is our first trip with friends and we want to capture all of that for everyone. If it was just our normal family of 3, would be much harder to justify, but that's just me.

It is for us. We just got back from 5 days and had pics taken with every photographer we saw, which was a lot. They have some really fun Magic Shots we made sure to get. The ride photo system is really glitchy right now, but we just kept a list of all of them and the time and after emails to the Missing Photo link, they were able to retrieve all but 1. We are really happy we did it.

I purchased it at the last minute for fall break trip and was glad I did. I have made photo books for our past trips and the kids still love looking at them so I wanted to do one for this trip as well. I also like that our whole group can be in the photos. The kids also love the ride photos. We did end up with way less photos this time, but that was because we were constantly hurrying between long lines to try to get everything done in the short hours. Our number of photos were also limited because there are only so many times I could convince 3 boys aged 12-17 to stop for photos. I do wish we had made the effort to get more Magic Shots. However, all of these negatives are not Disney's fault. So overall, yes it was worth it for us.

In the past and hopefully in the distant future....yes, right now with the mask requirement, I won’t be purchasing it! I may get one or maybe two pics from our trip but I dont want to purchase it when all you get is us in our mask, no smiles or funny faces! I’ll wait till next time!

agree. I the past loved it. Now, I would probably pass.

I usually get it every year, but not this time. I don’t want pics with masks in them. So we will wait until our 2022 trip to it again. We will make do with selfies for our early 2021 trip.

We did not.. I had a the most pics from MK .. and I am glad I did not pay $200
One from AK.
Two from Epcot
Some of our photos were deleted because people did not have a mask on.
If I had paid for that I would have been upset.
I have the pics we took with our phones and screen shots of the MDE

No way is it worth even half the price right now.

1) No M&G photos (where we probably get the most "shots")
2) Have to have a mask on in every photo (even if you would be standing BY YOURSELF in the middle of the street for 5 seconds with it off)
3) They delete photos people having mask off.l
4) Ride photos .. (with masks on?) .. what's the point?

They should be giving the photos away for good measure. I feel bad for anyone who pays for it right now.

I agree that they should be giving away the photos! With all that's not available right now it would be a very much appreciated token of good will. Especially since there's no way I would pay, even a discounted rate, for photos right now.

I wish they had it set up to buy one photo..
The whole day was like $90 what about just one photo
You should be able to unless they changed it from last year. We went for a quick weekend last September and I only bought one photo that I wanted with the headless horseman in front of the train station, but that was still about 16.99.

For this we have a photopass credit on our account right now. We are going the week of Thanksgiving. I honestly think I'm going to wait and see how many pictures we get before activating it to see if it's even worth it.
I was bummed because I originally wanted to do a Capture Your Moment session since my in-laws will be with us and we are celebrating their 50th anniversary but I changed my mind on that since masks would have to be on.

Random question, will the photographers now take photos with guests' phones (the way they used to, if you asked after they were done with the 'official' shots)? I would assume no, but just curious if anyone has asked or tried.

They definitely will not. They have a policy (since COVID) of not touching any guests devices.

I think Disney realizes Photo Pass is hurting .. I was offered a survey and one of the questions was "would you get Photo Pass" .. with options of why not being "No Characters meet and greets" or "I have to wear mask" ..

I think Disney could "loosen" their mask policy a bit .. (like let you take your mask off while moving outdoors or getting a photo taken) .. inside or in a queue is a different story. But that unfortunately makes it very hard to enforce then.

Totally agree.
The most troubling is paying for a service and not getting delivery of the product due to the behaviors of someone else Disney composed in the photo shot. If someone in the composition that Disney composed is an issue, who is not part of the photo agreement with the guest. Then Disney should deliver the photo with a different composition to deliver the photo to the paying guest who is abiding by the mask rule. Is the photo deletion a part of the photo pass program when we purchase it today?

That opens a whole can of worms and goes exactly against why Disney is trying to do right now.

Thank you for clarifying! I had seen in someone's trip report where they had a server take their photo in a restaurant recently, but it may have just been somewhere in DS. It's a sound policy to put in place.

What they should do .. and what I would prefer are two very separate things. Just stating my personal opinion on the "need" for masks outside when easily able to be separate from people. That's Disney's policy and everyone will comply if required, but I bet a majority of guests would be perfectly fine with the risk of not wearing mask while walking around (not in queues) outside at the parks.

I mean, I get it .. a black/white policy like this makes it easier to comply/enforce. Doesn't mean I can't wish for it to go away sooner than later. I'd rather hope for the old normal than just surrender to the "new normal".
