A group I'm set up with for our specific cruise said that you could not use onboard credits to purchase photo packages. I knew this would be the case if you prepurchased, but if you purchase photos online, are they not charged to your onboard account? I was bummed to read this because I basically went through a travel agent just for the onboard credit... to purchase photos :) Guess I should have researched that idea more before I did it.

OBC cannot be used for photos if you're buying the package in advance, or buying after the cruise. Not sure if you buy at Shutters during the cruise how that works.

Did you mean "onboard"?

I'm pretty sure that, if you purchase the photo package onboard, it just gets added to your onboard account. And, usually, such charges will be paid for with any onboard credit you have. And, of course, there's no pre-purchase discount.

You can't use OBC to pre-purchase the packages, or use it after your cruise to purchase photos (because, well then you wouldn't be onboard to use the OBC).

You should be able to use the credit to buy them onboard - you would just not get the discount. You use your KTTW card to purchase pics or pic packages anyway, so no reason those bought onboard would not use onboard credit.

Yes, photos are charged to your onboard account when you buy them on the ship. I've used part of an OBC to cover the charge, most recently in May (and I received a discount because my Disney Visa was tied to my onboard account).

Photos purchased onboard are charged to the room account. These purchases are also eligible for the Disney Visa discount if the credit card is the registered payment method, even if your onboard credits are sufficient to cover all of your onboard expenses so that your CC is not actually charged.
