I know this is slightly O/T and I’m not sure whether this is a new thing or not but I thought I’d share.

I’ve had a problem with my Shareholders card recently, I used it in my local Disney store and as usual I had to wait a while for a manager to come, the card was taken off me, however, as I was rushing I didn’t realise they never gave it back. I realised and called a week later to be told that as I did not collect it in one or two days it had been sent back to France.

I’m sure you’ll understand exactly how unhappy I was, the card was dated until May 2014 and to have a new card sent it has to go through the renewal process, meaning buying 80 more shares!

I emailed a complaint to the Disney Store and also sent a message to the shareholders club.

The Disney Store customer services escalated it, the response I’d had was from the Disney Store Europe, they were just asking for more details while they investigated it.

The shareholders club got back to me and said that they would just send the card back to me but they hadn't received it yet.

I had this email yesterday:

In answer to your membership renewal to the Euro Disney S.C.A Shareholders Club, we inform you that you now have to submit a photograph which could be on your membership card. As of today, we have not yet received your photograph, this is the reason why we can not valid you membership request. We invite you to download it in your Personal Space on our website or send it by e-mail in JPEG or PNG format and only 300 pixels wide minimum.

Please note:

To facilitate your membership card use, your photograph must show you alone, be taken recently to reflect your current appearance, and your face must be visible. We recommend you use an official photograph ID.

Feel free to contact us for any further information.

I was confused as I wasn't renewing but I emailed back to see if they had received my card yet and uploaded a photo anyway.

I received this email today:

Thank you for your email. We were sorry to hear of your recent experience in our Birmingham Store and do thank you for bringing this to our attention and for providing the additional requested information.

We can assure you that this is an unusual incident and that we have raised your concerns regarding how this matter was handled with the Store Management team and their District Manager to ensure that it remains as an isolated incident. We have contacted the Disney Shareholders Department to request for a new card to be sent to you with our compliments. This should be with you within two weeks. If for any reason, you do not receive your card, please do let us know so that we can assist you further.

We would once again like to thank you for your feedback and hope to see you in a Disney Store again soon.

I know they’re supposed to ask for ID with the shareholders card to get the discount, I have only been asked in one shop in Disneyland Paris and have never been asked in the Disney Store. I suppose this is their way around this.

The option to upload a photograph appeared on the website very shortly after they put up the share holding to 100 shares.

I think it's a very good idea and will stop shareholders cards being passed around.

Sorry to hear to lost your card at the store. I always keep a firm hold of mine, epecialy in busy stores. I keep leaving my debt card in Chip & Pin machines so know how easy it is to leave them behind.

Hope you get your replacement card soon.

I think it's a much better idea, I wasn't comfortable carrying my passport around with me when we were away, I'd have rather left it in the room.

I'm not letting it out of my sight once I get it! Normally I'm careful with this type of thing but I was rushing around. That's my fault but I was upset that it was returned so quickly and I was gutted by the thought of not being in the club! I love my discounts!

Much better idea, the partner cards have always had photos on them and we've never been asked for id because of this...unfortunately they still need a manager to validate the transaction :sad2:

Hopefully one day soon all cards will work like the AP's as it would streamline things and speed up the transaction :thumbsup2

The card I received recently (just before the 100 shares change) does not have a photo on it. Will I have to take photo ID with me to use it in Disneyland Paris?

I wasn't asked for anything in July, but last month I was asked for photo ID.

We got asked a couple of times both this summer and last year and showed our driving licences as ID.
