Photo Mosaic editing software

er yeah and it turned out into just a huge blob of blocks :confused3 :rotfl:

Make sure its using hundreds of photos...what are you doing the settings at? My ones at the the moment are coming out as small blocks so hopefully when I get it printed it won't look so bad??? Fingers crossed!!;)

I've been having too much fun with this! 1st two tries didn't turn out well... probably not enough pics. This one isn't great, but I can identify the original image!

I think this is very nice! I did a lion king one with this sized blocks (maybe a tiny bit smaller) and I love it...I have done 2 mickey ones and the blocks are 4 times as small so you can see at a glance what the picture is..but that ones would have to be printed slightly bigger (poster size maybe) To get the full impact!..thing is I just keep doing them and changing the settings til I'm happy...gets a ittle bit addictive!!:thumbsup2

I have over 400 photos :rotfl:

I think its probably the settings im using as i have no clue what they are meant to be at.

Will prob have a go on it later after ive done some housework. Since coming back from Dlrp ive been to depressed to do much :lmao:

I'm bringing back a really old thread (don't you hate that!?) to ask if anyone has done a mosaic and printed it and been happy with it, and if so how big did you make it and do you remember what settings you used? I'm thinking around 2000 tiles (or more?) and maybe 2 x 2 feet? I'm trying to do one with all 9 of our cruises, and another with this entire year of disney trips (when we are done in January we will have been 5 times) so LOTS of pictures.

I volunteer to shoot the local music theater. Last year was beauty and the beast.

this year was Seussical, I am having a hard time finding a good base image to build the collage.

I used andreamosaic

the director of the show has a print about 2'x3'. When the light is not directly on it you see beauty and the beast. WHen the light is on, you see all the faces. Very cool.

Thanks Mike, that is really pretty! I saw that shutterfly can do up to 20 x 30..of course not sure where I would put it once I got it home! LOL This is the best I have done so far, although I still think the back of the ship loses its definition.

Not a bad idea! ROFL!!! :rotfl: I ordered my poster yesterday, can't wait to see how it comes out! Played with a tie-dye swirl picture of Pop pictures yesterday too, need more pictures, gotta go back! :worship:

Pulling this old thread back up to see if anyone has any mosaics they would like to share? I'm done with my 2008 year of disney and getting ready to do one, not sure what I will use as a background picture yet! Anyone?

I redownloaded the software to my new computer last night. Maybe I will have time to mess around with it tonight. I will post any new ones I get done.

did you load it to a computer with windows vista? I am wondering how well it will work since I am not a big fan of vista, but it is on my new laptop as well..
wold love to see some pics too!
pink :goodvibes:

I have it on my Vista computer and it works fine, although the files are very large and sometimes when I'm trying to edit them in Photoshop I have a RAM problem, so be careful how big you make your final pix. This is the one I just did for the cover of my 12 x 12 scrapbook.

I tried to make this smaller in photobucket - I'm sorry its so big, not sure what I'm doing wrong but its not "taking". I had tried a couple of Mickey and Castle designs but for an album cover the pix were just going to have to be tiny to see the big picture so I went with the tie-dye swirl because we stayed at Pop Century 3 out of our 4 trips to Disney in 2008.

I love it! Nice job! :thumbsup2

I haven't had time to get back to making any and I don't think I will have time tonight either. I will post as soon as I get something done.

I haven't used this yet, but plan to for our trip to WDW in December. For curiosity's sake---how long does it take to make your mosaic using this program? Also---did you have to pick which pictures went in each color of the swirl "i.e. putting the purple in the purple part, the blue in the blue, etc." or is the program intelligent enough to see the background color and place it appropriately??

The program does the work for you and picks the pictures. There are several options available, if you want it to be able to flip pictures or use them side-ways to make a better product. I personally only wanted mine the "right" way. It also has an option to adjust the color to make a more fluent big picture, the default is 7%. I would have liked 0% but ended up using 5%, you just have to play with the program and see what works best for you.

Oh yea, one more thing, pick a base picture that has all of the colors of the rainbow in it or you will end up not being able to use all of your photos!

The program also has 3 different choices, portrait, landscape, or square. They are actually 3 different programs that are all loaded together.

I did take my original picture and saturated the colors using photoshop which seemed to help the program pick better fits.

Getting organized is probably the most time consuming. On my external hard drive I put all of our disney pix from 2008 into one file. I think there were 1500+. The program analyzed those pix and came up with around 800+ that it could use (probably because some where horizontal and some were vertical). The analyzing takes about 10 minutes.

Then it builds your mosaic, which probably takes about 5-10 minutes also depending on how many times you have chosen for it to make. You will want to play with it and try different things. It makes really big files so be prepared to dump them onto an external hard drive if you need to. (I have one of those cheap $259 Wal-Mart Acer laptops, so not much hard drive space).

When I was making the cruise ship poster, I had a heck of a time getting the back of the ship to not blend in with the water and the tailfin to really look good. I ended up actually hand picking a few pictures for the back end and photoshopping them onto the mosaic before sending it to shutterfly. I can't even tell which pix I changed now that its hanging on the wall.

Can't wait to see your projects!
