My DD has several autograph books and they just sit there unopened. I wanted to do the Jr. Enc. of Disney this time around, but it's out of print I guess and super expensive. So I was thinking about using a photo frame mat, maybe a 8x10 one or 5x7 and have the characters sign it. It would be so super cute with a disney photo inside. But I don't know if they can sign their name regular size for the gloved characters. What do you all think? Anyone every tried this?

I think for sure I'm gonna have one done for the princesses, that should be ok.

I think this is a great idea!

I would think, however, that the larger the mat, the easier it would be for the "gloved" characters to sign.

I know that at Target, there are mats which are very wide, and then you put a square photo(maybe a 3x3"?) in the very center.

You might even bring a couple of different sizes/types of mat with you, and you'll quickly find out which works best.

Good luck, and let us know how it all works out:)!

We did this last year at WDW and it ended up working out really well. We were there for 5 days and filled up 2 8x10 mats (had a 5x7 cut out I believe).

The gloved characters didn't seem to have problems, it was easy for them to grab using the hole in the frame (if that makes sense) and we have several cute pictures of the characters posing with the frame and with DD.

We brought along several of the click sharpie markers in several colors so that it would be easy for them to sign and it ended up really nice and colorful for DD.

This is an awesome idea. I can't believe I didn't think of it, as I have tended to use these mats in the past. Brilliant. I like the different color Sharpie idea also! :thumbsup2

I got the idea last week at a friends house. They had everyone sign the mat for the wedding. I immediately thought of how cool would this be for Disneyland!! You could look at it and the photo everyday and enjoy them both!!

Ok this may be dumb but....when you say photo mat you are talking about the things you put around pics in frames right?? Do you take the whole frame with you to have it signed on or does it come with something to make it easier to sign on or am I thinking of something completely different

I bought the mats at the craft store separately and they came in a plastic sleeve that we kept them in. They fit easily in the backpack that we were carrying. They were a thick cardstock type material that wouldn't bend when the characters signed them.
