Photo ID/ Counter-Signature Requirements???

Just noticed on the Universal Orlando Tickets that I purchased from UCTourist that "Guest counter-signature is required for each visit" and "Photo ID required". I never encountered this at Disney, so I have a few questions I am hoping the DISers can answer. Do we have to line up somewhere to show our signature matches the one on the ticket? I got the impression from UCT that I could bypass the main ticket kiosks and go right through with these tickets, so I hope not. Also, do my kids require photo IDs?? If I am lucky, they may have a school ID kicking around, but other than that all they have is their passports.

I wouldn't worry about it. Universal rarely asks for ID unless there is a problem with the finger scan in which case you would have to prove you are the person using the ticket. Children would not have to provide ID under the age of 16. But...you should always carry ID with you regardless of where you are. You never know when something might happen and you would need to prove your identity.

Thanks Metro West, you have answered a lot of my questions while planning our first trip to Universal. I really appreciate all of the help! You are certainly welcome. As far as my experience goes, the only time you would be asked for an ID is when there's some problem with the finger scan. I can't think of any other time when you'd be asked for an ID.

My brother and his wife last trip at separate entry times were asked for ID when the finger scan failed. This was with their AP's.

For tickets at first entry I see a lot of people doing this after passing through.

We have to show a picture ID just about everytime with our APs at the car tollbooths. About the only time we dont is when the lines are long to pay for parking. Not long ago, probably within a month or so, weve had to sign the backs of our passes, which is something weve never had to do before. I dont think Ive ever had to show my id at the park turnstyles. Even when my pass was acting up which it seems to do fairly regularly, Ive never had to show my id. They put it manually and we go on our way. They did the same thing with my sons. They manually put it in, and then have him use a different finger. I think the ID part is just a warning saying that US can ask for it at any given time if theres a doubt to ownership.

My three sons were never expected or required to have ID. Even when the scanners failed, they let them through and never asked for any form of identification.

Seems like a few of you are having some issues with APs and tickets. Hmmm...I guess those "wonderful" scanners are acting up again.

Its not the scanner itself for us. The passes we had were faded and I think the barcode maybe getting a little smudged. GS kept trying to tell me I had to pay $10 for a reprint(had then printed once already) . I couldn't convince them that the reason it wasn't showing a recent scan failure is because the scanner wasn't reading the barcode to begin with. I remember when we had the hard plastic I'd card style passes. I forget why we had to swap to the newer ticket style. Its kinda funny. Disney had the same plastic APs. They swapped to the ticket style and now are back to the hard plastic again.

Disney is back to the hard plastic passes because of the RFID chips. Universal stopped issuing plastic passes sometime in 2005 or 2006. I heard people who renewed their passes at the park were having to surrender the old ones to get the new tickets. I don't know if that's true but I've renewed mine every year by phone...I'm taking no chances.

I had a horrible time with my fingerprint being scanned and had to show id several times to enter the park. I had the Undercover tickets. Bring your id just in case but you do everything through the regular lines.

With my luck that will be us too. I will make sure we have ID on us. When you say "regular lines" do you mean going through the turnstiles or lining up at the same ticket windows where people are just buying their tickets?

Going through the turnstiles would be considered the "regular line"...you shouldn't have to get in the ticket window lines if you already have tickets in hand.
