I stupidly forgot to renew my license So, my current photo license is expired and I have a printout from my computer (I renewed online) that shows it was renewed. Will I have problems at the airport?
I can only tell you my one experience. I had a client in your position, her only photo I.D. was a fairly recently expired driver's license (about one year). I didn't call TSA, but I did call her airline, and they said no problem, and that turned out to be true.
You should be fine. If you have a current passport, that would work as well.
My husband is active duty military and his license has been expired for about 12 years (as long as he is active duty, his old license is good). He flies 4-5 times a month and has never had a problem.
She was taken over to a desk, asked a lot of questions, a supervisor was called, then she was allowed to go. It took about 20 minutes. This was in Salt Lake City so I don't know if they are worse there or not.
You will be fine, especially with the paperwork showing it has been renewed. Minnesota takes 4-6 weeks to send you your new license. DW went through the screening process with exactly what you have, her expired license and her paperwork. NO problems.
On a side note.... you can renew a drivers license online? Minnesota makes you stand in line, take an eye test, and take a new picture every time.......
