Photo Check for Fast Passes??

My sister told me today that during her trip in April, she noticed that her photo showed up at the 2nd FP scan at Indiana Jones. I was shocked! I haven't heard anything about them checking to make sure you're the right person attached to the ticket. Then she said that maybe their FPs were special because the CM at the entrance had to do something to allow their group to ride together (their FP times only almost overlapped).

But actually, I don't even remember a 2nd scan at Indiana during my last trip in February. Could just be my bad memory, though.

Anyway, we're going back in a couple weeks and I was planning on allowing other members of my group to get a 2nd ride on rides that I don't like by allowing them to use my FP as well as their own. Will I be able to do that still?

Thanks!

Interesting. I haven't noticed this and I don't think they really have time to check this for every guest (and I'm also not sure why it would matter since its a body going through the ride either way). We did not go on Indy this past weekend but I did notice that other rides with two FP scan points such as Big Thunder and Splash were not using the second scan point (whereas they were using both scan points on our trip in May). Space was still using both FP scan points.

There isn't a second scan at Indy. At least there wasn't in May and I haven't heard about one being added (one didn't even exist as installed, but not used at Indy like some other rides have).

The second scan point is what's throwing me since the merge point is very much near the first scan point and CMs can clearly watch for anyone jumping into the FP line from standby.

I use my mom's pass to get a couple rides on GotG every visit because she won't ride it. I'd be hella bummed if they ever started enforcing the ticket holder be the one to ride, lol! Plus I could see this super holding up a line considering some still scan all passes from the app by just swiping through. Having to check all of those? I just can't see it being a real thing.

I definitely don’t remember a second FP machine from our trip early this month.

I can guarantee that the Incredicoaster did not check tickets at it’s one FP Return. My DH came on a twilight ticket and I used my phone to scan him and DS in with my MP since I couldn’t get him one before he scanned into the park. No one cared.

Was your sister with someone using a DAS? The only time my photo shows up at the scanners is when I check in using DAS, but not when I use MP/FP. With DAS, the CM has to confirm the the person using the DAS is actually with the group checking in. With FP/MP, no one checks my identity. One easy way to know which pass is which is to check the color of the scanner: blue = DAS, green = FP/MP. Of course, red = stop!

Hmm... She wasn't with anyone using DAS, but I wonder if that is what the CM gave them that allowed the group to go together. See, she and our Aunt had FPs that would have enjoyed before my nieces FPs would have been valid. It was about a 10 minute difference, even allowing for the grace periods. She did say the CM had to do something to their FPs to allow them all in. Maybe the CM assigned a DAS?
Is there a 2nd DAS scan point in Indy? If not, maybe she's just remembering it wrong that it was a 2nd scan. She definitely noticed her photo show up, though, because it's never happened before.

Like the pp, I don't remember a 2nd scan in the IJA line. A DAS can't be given by a CM in a line, so your sister probably received some kind of special pass that might have required a photo confirmation of some kind. Now I'm curious... I'll try asking about this the next time we ride Indy!

Are you guys sure about the 2nd scanner? I could have sworn you showed your FP once when you entered the line, and then again just as you entered the temple. Oh, well. I will be there on Friday to find out! :flower1:

There used to be a second scanner right before you entered the Ziggurat. It was not there three weeks ago when I used Maxpass on IJA.

I went on Indy on Tuesday. There was no 2nd scanner. The only ride I've encountered a 2nd scanner is Space and we've done nearly every Fastpass ride except Star tours and Matterhorn since its closes for refurb.

Indy, BTMRR, roger rabbit, guardians, Incredicoaster and Star Tours are the only rides that don’t have a second scanner installed. A number of rides like buzz and haunted mansion have a second scanner but it’s cocered and not used.

They used to take your paper FPs as you entered the temple which might be what many remember from the pre scanning days. They never had a scanner there unless it's a VERY recent addition. I've definitely never had to scan a second time on Indy since shortly after MP went live for use.

Buzz has a second scanner (not always used), BTMR used to have a second scanner before they redid the line, RSR has a second scanner.

The reason why they would have a second scanner is to prevent people from jumping from stand by into the FP line. However, the way Indy is set up it would be a.) hard to jump the separation easily and b.) not worth it since the lines come together not too further up. A second scanner would only create a backup of the FP line.

That is interesting about the photo, though.

Hmm well as I said I'm in Disneyland this week and only had a 2nd scanner in space. Maybe because it's a quieter crowd week? Interesting that it changes.
