My siblings and I are thinking of getting a photo book for my parents. Anyone have any suggestions for a place or are they all pretty much the same. There are five of us children and ten grandchildren right now. We do need to have text in it too. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have used kodak gallery, snapfish, photoworks and Walgreens. You may also try winkflash. I really like the layout choices for Walgreens you can put 1 or 9 pictures on the page. Check prices plus shipping and some companies offer discounts for additional books ordered. Don't forget to check for coupons online for each company as well. With walgreens I got a hard book for my Mom and then just got a soft cover book for me for cheaper. I say put captions though on some photos. Remember that one day someone in future generations will have the book and not know who everyone or each place is. It is worth the time now to keep a legacy alive and is very easy. Good Luck and have fun.

I've done several through Shutterfly, and I LOVE them. My first one was almost two years ago, and I chose Shutterfly over Winkflash because they had the most options in terms of layouts, pages, and covers. In those two years, Shutterfly has VASTLY improved their choices, and it's so easy to use. They, too, offer many different layout templates, including various combinations of portrait and landscape photos on a page, and can hold anything from one full page picture to collages of like 15-18, plus different font options for captions.

The prices are comparable - I'd sign up as a member if you're thinking about, because they often send me emails with deals on photo gifts and/or shipping. I also liked the options at winkflash, but I know the quality at Shutterfly is excellent. Check out their options for pages, covers, and layouts and see which works better for you.

Any other questions, please feel free to ask!:)

I too use Shutterfly for all my photobooks. We do one for the grandparents every year. What is nice about Shutterfly that I have found is that you can send an evite to someone else to view your pics, they can choose the ones they want and save them. All the siblings take photos during the year and we send them to the coordinator (me) who then picks and chooses photos from those and saves them in one spot (I usually name it photobook and the year). Then, when the time comes, I start the book, text and all and get input from the siblings. It is what works best for us. :goodvibes Maybe it will work for others too!:confused3

I have used Shutterfly and Blurb. I liked the quality of the Blurb book, but it was not as easy to use. I have made several Shutterfly books and they turned out really cute. Shutterfly was running a special on their books just recently, I don't know it they still are now. A friend of mine used the Creative Memories digital photo book and it was really good too.

We are planning on giving photo books and photo calendars as Christmas gifts to our family.

Check out the freebie thread. If you go to the shutterfly site you can register for their promotion to win something or another but you get a free code for something. I used two different email addresses and received a free 8x8 photobook and a free photo calendar. I can't wait to use it! Plus, one email address wasn't signed up with them so I also got 25 FREE prints!

Last year I used Snapfish for a photo book for my mom of our cruise and it was so much fun to do and the quality was really great. I was very impressed with the book.

I've used mypublisher.com several times and have been very happy with the results. Their leather covers are beautiful. They've got coupon codes on their site for 20% off an order of $50 or more or 40% off an order of $100 or more.

I think these make awesome gifts, but it's a time-consuming gift (especially if you're a perfectionist like me who edits every photo to death). I made one of these for my parents 40th anniversary and I spent so many hours scanning in old pictures.

I used Kodak gallery in the past and was quite unimpressed with the picture quality (I'm using a Nikon D50 SLR camera so the picture quality in my prints is outstanding but absolutely awful in Kodak's books! :( )

This year I opted to give Shutterfly a try for our Disney album.... I LOVE IT! The quality is amazing and there are so many options to choose from in making your book page by page where other online stores only allow you one background for the entire book... everyone who has viewed my Shutterfly album is completely wowwed by the finished product! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I will check out the sites.

I used Picaboo last year to create a Disney album for my sister's family and was pleased with the quality (faux leather cover). It was my first attempt at making a digital photo book and I thought it was very easy. They now have tons more backgrounds and extras available.
