Photo Book Shared!--"We go to Disney World in Two Minutes" -- a May 2014 PTR

Love your FP+ picks! And yay for getting Anna and Elsa!! That will be the first FP+ I grab too!! Looks like we'll be in the same parks on the 22nd and 23rd! The 22nd is our arrival day, so we won't be getting to Epcot till like 3:30 and leaving after our 6:50 ADR... so a quick Epcot day for us!

Minnie/Daisy/Sofia Inspired Dress

This next dress began as a Daisy-inspired outfit. I thought it was sweet, simple, and paired with white ruffle shorts would be reminiscent of Daisy Duck. Disneybound for a 3yr old, if you will. But I couldn't find a lining fabric that I liked well enough, but I kept coming back to this one particular Minnie Mouse fabric with lavender and pink accents. Also, I couldn't figure out when DD would wear it on our schedule, and I realized with the purple, it'd be a great choice for our Hollywood & Vine breakfast and for meeting Sofia. Especially if paired with a chunky necklace with an "amulet." So, I bought the Minnie fabric and this has turned into an outfit with several interpretations! :lmao:

This is a Sweetheart dress from Luv in the Mommyhood. I chose to use the lining fabric on the outside of the back bodice, because I just loved it too much not to show it off. I like the added interest it gives!

The back with heart-shaped cut-out and contrasting bodice fabric:

I was excited! I've checked back to see if we could snag a different/better time, but there are definitely none available. So glad I got one!

Maybe we'll run into each other during the craziness of Disney 24!

I need to catch up on the rest of your PTR, but I just love that dress you made - the fabrics are perfect! Great job!

Thank you so much! I'm working hours and hours on the Cinderella dress right now! It's a lot of work and I can't wait to finish and share!

We were out of town for the weekend and I am playing catch up again.

Great FP+ selections. And I adore the purple polka dot dress...simply precious.

Looks like good FP+ selections and I am totally loving that dress! Hummm... my DD might need a dress from that pattern! I have seen it before and it is sooo cute!:rotfl:

Thanks, Kathy! Sometimes the simple dresses make the biggest statement! :)

Yes, I'd had my eye on it for a long time! I'm sure you'd make something absolutely lovely with it!

I am very excited to see it! :lovestruc

The main dress is finished! I ran out of fabric so had to order more to finish the hip poofs! oops! Almost ready to share. :goodvibes

Thanks for joining in! I hope you have s great trip and keep me posted on a dismeet!

In quick trip news, my sister snagged a Star Wars breakfast on our DHS day for 6ppl! We won't be going and not sure if we'll keep the Sci Fi lunch if we're the only ones. I'm excited for them, though!

Cinderella & Prince Charming

I'm back with another sewing update! I am so pleased with the results for Cinderella and Prince Charming. For Cinderella, I used Michael Miller Fairy Frost fabric in powder and baby blue. I used a Foo Foo Threads pattern. For Prince Charming, I used a tutorial and free pattern that utilized a men's dress shirt for an infant romper. I honestly didn't think the tutorial was that great, so won't share. :) The shoulder pads are velcro and removable. The belt will be cut to size once we arrive in WDW (since I want to make sure it fits the little guy just right!).

In other trip news, our package is paid in full! It feels so much more real now.

Also, last week Disney announced and open reservations for Star Wars themed character meals at Hollywood Studios. My siblings are huge Star Wars fans (big time!), and my sister was able to get an 8:35a.m. breakfast reservation on our actual DHS day! She couldn't get one when she called in the morning, but when she called in the evening there was one available! So at least a few of our group will be headed to Sci Fi on our 2nd full day to meet Darth Vader and others. :cool1:

I also did some more shopping for the trip! JC Penney had Disney tshirts on clearance for $4.99 two weekends ago. I picked up 5, including the only Anna shirt that just happened to be in DD's size (and buried in a different pile!). One shirt I bought in a size up and I plan to make into a dress. In addition to the tshirts, I picked up some clearanced glow wands and bracelets at Michael's for the electrical parade.

I've also made adjustments to our personalized Touring Plans now that we have Fast Passes booked. I don't think I'm going to share those after all, as it's just a lot of typing!

We are 45 days away, today! On my sewing to-do list I still have: Beast costume for nephew (same romper style), giraffe print dress for DD, upcycle tshirt dress, Flynn Rider vest for DH, figure out costume for me, and DD's Belle dress (I had to deconstruct it and need to sew a new bodice). I also have plenty of non-sewing things to do and organize as soon as the sewing is done. I can't wait to share our amazing custom autograph book and my other idea for autographs.

Thanks for reading!

Following along on your PTR. :surfweb:
Your new sewing projects are adorable, you are so talented.
Doesn't it feel full-filling when you cross trip items off your list. :thumbsup2
Countdown is on.....

Great job with the Cinderella dress and Prince Charming outfit!!

:cool1: And congrats on being Paid in Full!!! :cool1: Isn't that such a great feeling! Because no matter what happens now... you have to go! It's paid for! Ha ha!

Oh, the Cinderella dress turned out beautifully. I love it.

Glad you were able to snare a Star Wars character meal...that should be a lot of fun.

I don't blame you for not typing up your touring plans...too much work in my opinion.

And always a good feeling when you are paid in full.

Yay!!! I've been waiting to see how your Cinderella dress would turn out. I think it looks fantastic!! I hope that you were happy with the fabric and the shirred back. Your DD is going to look amazing in her dresses! Do you know how many times on our trip, my girls got asked "Did your Mommy make that?" Your DD can say "Yes!!" princess:

Oh and the Prince Charming romper is too darn cute!!

45 days!!! That is so exciting!! And to have your package all paid in full... can't beat that feeling. :thumbsup2

Your Cinderella dress is exquisite!!! Beautiful details! I love working with Fairy Frost - it's beautiful fabric (however, Mr. R HATES appliqueing on/with it - sigh, so I don't use it often).

Even if you didn't like the tutorial - I do love how the romper turned out... It's perfect!

They are going to get so much attention! Great job on everything!!

Also - congrats on being paid in full - such a wonderful feeling! :)

Thank you so (sew?) much! It's been so much fun to do and really helps pass the time for the trip.

I need to probably make an actual list so I don't forget anything! :thumbsup2

Yes!! That's what I told my parents--we have to go now!

One of my sisters wasn't going to bother with the meal, which was such a shock!! She is seriously such a big fan (the cost is a bit much, though), so I'm glad my other sister went ahead and got one so they can think more about it. They'll have TIW discount, so that should help.

Thank you!! I'm so glad I saw Jorie's dress before I bought some other fabric for this dress! I love it so much and it's very wearable. The shirring isn't as tight as it needs to be so I'm debating ripping that out and trying again. Decisions decisions! :headache:
Edit/update: tried this on DD this evening and it fits perfectly except a little bagginess in the back near her waist. I think I can fix that with a length of elastic and it'll be even more perfect! Super sweet, but I couldn't get a decent picture.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to DD (and me) getting love for these outfits from CMs and characters. princess:

Thank you!! It has an interesting sheen/feel, so I wonder if that's why? I'm so glad that Rachel had her awesome TR so I could see this type of dress and fabric in action. :)

Since I'm still fairly new to sewing, some steps aren't as ingrained in me yet (like double turning a hem), and this tutorial didn't ever say to do that--just fold up and sew. So I'd start to do that then realize my edges would fray and start over. *sigh* but it was free and got the job done! :thumbsup2

Your dresses are fabulous and you have inspired me to make more dresses for my daughter! Our trip in 22 days! I was not going to make a Cinderella or rapunzel but I just might now. I am getting down to the wire though. Can you tell me what specific pattern you used for your Cinderella dress? I have found some patterns but they are not as nice as the one you made! Thank you.

Love the Cinderella dress! I think the romper is fabulous! I can't wait to see the beast one. It's nice to see some boy customs. It seems like the girls always get all the fun stuff.
