Photo Assignment June '07: Color

A few from our local park from last Friday morning. All taken with a Digital Rebel XTI using the the much maligned 18-55 kit lens using ISO of 200 (just for fun!) in AV mode. I know there's lots of poppies, but they were just planting the annuals while I was there.

You're beginning to scare me - I JUST took some pictures of the same little cottage!!!!!

I took this at the same location as cpbjgc. Nothing too exciting, but I love the color combination on these iris.

here are a few that I took earlier this month at the All Star Music Resort. I was practicing my newly found skill of aperture changing - LOL.

Camera model: NIKON D70
Date/Time: 2007:06:11 17:12:58
Resolution: 532 x 800
Flash used: No
Focal length: 70.0mm (35mm equivalent: 105mm)
Exposure time: 0.0080 s (1/125)
Aperture: f/4.5
Whitebalance: Auto
Metering Mode: matrix

PP: slight levels and contrast adjustment, IIRC (shot in jpg)

And I'm not sure how well this one fits the assignment since it's not exactly colorful, but it is almost monochromatic, and the cool color is what I find kind of interesting about it. Taken last week on a foggy/misty day on Lake Michigan. Any comments/constructive criticism are always appreciated.

PP: adjusted wb, boosted exposure and contrast a bit, then converted to jpg (and I forgot to add that I cloned out some bocce balls that were on the sand and a ginormous dust bunny that appeared on my sensor while we were in Hilton Head--looks like I'm going to have to overcome my fear of sensor swiping)

I forgot about this picture I took last summer - I changed the background to black and white - I love the size differential - this was a really teeny lizard - I think it was a baby. :) I loved how this turned out! The previous picture made me remember this - I wanted to print it out and frame it - thanks for making me think of it again! :)

The pictures of the sky divers against the blue sky seemed faded/washed out, this one on land is the most vibrant of the shots I took...

Since the topic is Color, I thouht I would share two I took in Marseille when on the Magic's Inagural Med. Cruise. The pinwheels is just how I shot it, the sky was cooperating that day. I love the contrast.

Marseille has vendors set up along the harbour. One vendor was selling candy. I am a licorice fan, so this caught my attention.

If it would stop raining I'd try and get out and get some pics! I may have a couple from my daughter's 2nd birthday party I can post though...

and cotton candy which seemed better in my head than on the sensor;)

I really like this one - such a simple everyday thing - but you made it look interesting. Great job.

Here are my enteries.. from our recent trip to WDW.

shutter speed 1/15, f/22 ISO 100 - removed two people from the back right corner, sharpened
