Oh my goodness! Within the last three days, I have turned in my application, completed the web-based interview, and today at 4:00, I'm having my phone interview. I am in full blown panic attack mode. I'm so excited about maybe having the chance to do the 2012 Spring term, but right now, I can't breathe!

This has been a honest to God, dream of mine since I was 4 years old. I'm in disbelief and I can't even imagine what level my reaction is going to be if I get in.

Does anyone have any advice for what to do about the phone interview? I know the basics of, smile, be yourself, etc. But what kind of questions do they really ask? I don't even know what kind of information to ask you guys for!

Is it bad that I don't even remember all of the roles I said I was interested in? Maybe thats just the excitement/nervousness talking...

Try to calm yourself down! You don't want to sound too nervous during the interview, you wont be able to properly convey everything you had hoped to!

Go drink something warm (tea is good) and listen to soothing music. Try writing down a few key points you want to make sure you talk about. It'll make you less nervous!

And good luck!

First of all, breathe. Don't forget that part, because it's kind of important. :)

Also, focus. It's awesome that you're so enthused for Disney and all, but remember, you're applying for a *job.* You're not applying to go play in Disney for six months, you're applying to work for them professionally. Keep that in mind, particularly during the interview.

Come up with your three favorite roles that you want the most. If the interview is still the same as it has been in the past they'll ask for your top three. They may also ask questions like "Why should we pick you to work for us?" or the infamous "Tell me about yourself."

Disney also loves situational questions. Like, "Tell me about a time when..." They may also ask some specific questions about your top roles. For example if you apply for attractions they may ask you, "What would you do if a kid was too short to ride your ride?" or if you apply for costuming they may ask what experience you have in dealing with huge amounts of laundry and industrial washers or something.

Be honest. And focus on your ultimate goal. If you want to go into Marketing or Advertising, maybe try for a Vacation Planner position. If you're more into acting, then you'll probably want to go for Entertainment, Costuming, or Character Attendant. If you want to go into Management I would recommend QSR or Merch. It just depends on what you ultimately want to do. And play that up to them as well, so they know you have a plan.

There are a lot of people with the "I just want to work for Disney cuz I love the company sooooo much and I don't even care what I do for them I just want a job with them" attitudes. And Disney loves that enthusiasm. And I'm sure a lot of those people get jobs. But I just think it may also be beneficial to have a long term goal as well. It'll help you out when you finish your program and then think, "Kay that was fun! Now what?"

Just my $.02.

In short: Breathe, answer the questions as if you're applying for a job, not six months of fun, and keep your great enthusiasm!

You'll do great!

I have just finished my phone interview! It went very well, I'm very happy with it. The lady said I would know by tomorrow or early next week!

Thank you so much! Your advice really helped me focus! The only question she actually asked me was about the "What would I tell a little boy who was too short to ride the ride" and even though I was trying to think of an answer, I just couldn't come up with one. Lol. That was the only thing I wasn't exactly happy with, answer wise. But overall, I think the interview went well!

I took your advice and thought about my major and everything beforehand, and I cannot thank you enough for telling me that. It made my interview a lot easier for me. I'll update you on my status soon enough! Thank you again.

Ah, I can breathe again! -deep breath- :D

I'm sure you did great! There's no single "right" answer they're looking for with that question. So you probably did fine. :)

If you're anything like I was, the stress doesn't go down after the interview, because then you start freaking out about getting that special letter saying you're accepted! Well, I felt better for like, three days... then I started obsessing over acceptance. Haha, hang in there!

I'm crossing my fingers for you! Hope you get in!! *pixie dust*

Wow by early next week? That's really early to hear back haha When I did my interview early in Oct my interviewer said I should expect four to six weeks to hear back (but I was accepted in 4 days :goodvibes). Maybe they aren't getting as many applications around this time so there are less to go through.

It sounds like you did really well to prepare for your interview so I'm hoping you get in! What were your top 3 choices?

I guess so! I'm really excited,! Thank goodness I have Halloween to distract myself for a little bit. lol :D

My top three choices were Photopass (Because I am a Graphic Design Major), Character Attendant, or Attractions. :D What about you? What are you going to be doing there? Congrats on getting in, by the way!

Thanks! I'm doing QSFB for the spring so that should be fun. I'm just excited about getting to live at Disney World for a semester haha

And yessss Halloween is a great distraction

Relax. It's a totally chill interview. To be honest I didn't get in my first time when I applied for merchandise. I applied again for this spring session and I got in as a character performer because I worked hard for it, whatever happens it'll work out I promise you (:

That's awesome! I know exactly how you feel, living at Disney would seriously be a dream come true. (It's funny. It's like they're known for that or something. :P) If I get in, I'd really like to meet you! :D

I'm going to be a pirate for Halloween. pirate: (I'm so creative. lol) What about you?

I'm being a pirate too! I'm wearing my costume from the Disney Cruise "Pirates in the Caribbean" night haha

And I'm really crossing my fingers for you to get in! We should definitely meet up sometime down there :goodvibes
