Phone CM vs Chat CM

I called today to make my reservation for a campsite. I asked about renting a tent and the phone CM said they don't rent tents, I'd have to find an outside vendor. Last week, a chat CM told me this "call Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground directly at 407-939-7807 and select option 4, between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, for tent rental information and pricing. There is a 24-hour notice required for individual rentals." I'm assuming the phone CM just didn't know what he was talking about, right? He made me nervous. I'm not planning to buy a tent.

1) DUH !
2) Phone ressie people are notorious for "being out-of-the-loop".
3) If they don't know, they frequently make-up things.
4) I wish I had real money for every complaint of wrong answers from phone ressie CM's.
. . . usually the wrong answer is to the detriment of the guest
. . . the worst thing is when they promise something that cannot be guaranteed, like room locations or room levels
 
This, of course, leads to the most famous tip..... "Call back and you get a different CM" that way you can (usually) get what you were expecting. As TRS points out though, it's when the CM promises something that they CANNOT (or don't) do.

I guess this is why so many companies rely on "Scripts" for everything. As annoying as scripts are, they help keep things on track and within the bounds of what they should be. Obviously something like a reservation system for a resort is a bit more challenging to "Script"

Hi OP! Did you ever have any luck getting a different answer? I'm scheduled to be there next week and while I have a tent, there's a threat of tropical moisture/heavy rain on my arrival day & I don't want to drive 10 hours to setup a tent in a downpour, so I thought I'd let Disney do it for me!

I plan on giving them a call in the morning to check but thought I'd see if you found a more helpful CM? Thanks!

I'm not worried about it. I looked around online and found many many places where people rented tents without a problem.
