Phone booth in Epcot...

I got through on the center phone just now (9:20 p.m.) and a lady answered who said I must have the wrong number. No, I told her, I got this number from a Disneyworld forum, and called it just so some Disney guest could have a unique chuckle while at Epcot. She put her DD10 on next because she had never used a pay phone. We talked about the weather and Illuminations. It was a hoot! :)

I have to brush up on my Cinderella voice and get up the courage to ask if anyone has seen my mice nearby.... they should be over near the pumpkin patch ;)

the numbers aren't working now.....or maybe its just me????

the numbers are working for me, but the one time someone answered they hung up. 2 times the line has been busy

...2 times the line has been busy

When people are posing for pictures in the booth, they usually pick up the phone and pretend to be talking. That's probably why it's busy sometimes. Not to mention DISers calling the numbers! :goodvibes

I just called and spoke with a guy from Canada. I asked him if he knew these were working phones and he said, "No...but we're trying to take a picture of it now." I asked him if he would like the number and he said he would. I gave it to him so he could continue the fun. :)

I spoke to a young girl from Texas earlier today. She was in a good mood, very happy. At first I though it was a cast member because she answered: "Thank you for calling Disney World, how can I help you?" lol

She then then explained that she answered phones for a living and that was the reason for the professional answer.

I'll be doing it again tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing these! We had the best time on our trip standing nearby and calling people as they went in to pose for pictures! It was very much like Candid camera, we always talked to them afterwards, and of course told them about Dis, of course!!!!

The kids did this yesterday, standing near Rose & Crown DD called as people were entering the booth. Sometimes they were too fast in picking up the receiver to pose for a pic

Most everyone seemed to think it was odd when DD acted as herself just saying Hi, but when she put on a slight english accent and told folk she was calling from the UK (well, she was hehe) they enjoyed it.

The best call was between her and, of course, her brother as they argued over who she was.

I haven't done this in a while, so I just called up one of the numbers and had what I can only assume to be a teenage Japanese boy on the phone. Here is how our conversation went

Him: Hello?
Me: Hi! How is your trip?
Him: My what?
Me: Your trip, how is your vacation going?
Him: Do you know where you are calling?
Me: Yes, I'm calling a phone booth in England.
Him: No, this is Disney World.
Me: Isn't that where you are? In England at Epcot?
Him: Where are you?
Me: Philadelphia
Him: Hold on...

he puts the phone down and starts telling other people that he has me on the phone. They are speaking another language, so I cant understand what he is saying. This goes on for another 20 seconds or so and then I hear

Him: %^& you!!!!!!!!!

:sad1: :sad1:

I'm going to try again in a few minutes.

Hopefully I get someone nicer!

I just got back from our trip. We stayed at the BC, so we passed by the phone booths many days. It seems like everytime I was going by, either I had forgotten my phone, forgotten the piece of paper that had the numbers on it (I know, should have programmed it) or I was too hot/tired to stop to call. What I really wanted to do was to pick up the receiver if someone called and say "Interpol Headquarters, Mrs. Wilson speaking, how may I help you?" to see what would happen.

I guess it never occurred to him that you could have been standing a few feet away from him. If I was calling from close by and someone said "%^& you" to me, I don't exactly know how I would handle it. I guess I could walk up to them and say, "Watch your language." I would probably just laugh it off, though.
What a rude kid.

Friends of ours went down in May. I told the parents to call me when they got there. I called the phones and the kids answered the phone and it took them about 5 minutes before they knew it was me.

We went down a week later, I sat near Rose & Pub. I talked to a few people on the phones. The gentelman sitting next to me was laughing and enjoying the fun we were having. I shared the number with him.

When I was at Epcot Saturday, the 21st and this past Wednesday, I hung around them for a bit, but unfortunately no calls.

Sounds like his friends might have told him "something" in English to say. Maybe he didn't speak English well so he didn't know what it meant? Maybe not since he had a conversation with you, but I like to think the best of people. I had Spanish speaking friends do this to me-all in good fun, for them! :)

May post this to the Disneyland board but does anyone know if the red phone booth at California Adventure works just like Epcots? If I remember this is a booth near the end of the road that then goes right to TOT or left to Monsters Inc.

I just read this and think it' so funny!:rotfl2: I never even thought about the phones working...what I think is even funnier is that people call randomly from here...I have no life...this amuses me..I want someone to call ME my next trip! hehe...thanks for the :) of the day for me

I stood outside the phones for 10 mins last Wednesday waiting for them to ring, but no one called.

:(
