Phone booth in Epcot...

I just heard about this on the DIS Unplugged podcast. I had no idea about it. Oh boy is my next trip to Epcot going to be fun! :

I called yesterday too, after listening to the WDW Today podcast for yesterday, and talked to someone. Now today though the numbers don't seem to be working. I wonder if too many people called in this week and Disney cut them off?

I hope not.

Oh NO . . .I hope not either . . .I really think (if you get the right person answering) it makes both their day and yours . . .at least, that's how I felt after talking to that person last night . . .

That's the problem when 'secrets' are made public & like it or not, the DISboards are the largest Disney-oriented community online. best to keep the little special things hidden in larger threads. It's fun to stumble across stuff on our own too.

Several times last month while waiting for wifey to finish her business in the loo I called the three numbers, I've got them in my Contacts list, and either the folks nearby chose not to answer or the phones didn't ring, I wasn't close enough to hear. Hope they're still 'active'.

A girl just answered!! Here's how it went down:

Girl: Hello?
Me: Hi I'm calling from Ireland, who's this?
Girl: This is a girl, standing in Epcot. Who is this?
Me: I'm Emma...
Girl: Oh wait, there was someone just in this booth...*goes outside* WAS SOMEONE JUST CALLING IRELAND???

I had to hang up! I was laughing too hard!

I just called the left booth and spoke to someone who didn't expect to be getting a call from someone in NJ. She was quite surprised.

I have called twice before. Once we were there and about twenty feet away..a teenager picked up and my DD said...hey love your tie dyed top...the girls eyes got big and said to friends" hey a girl said she liked my top" and she was looking around....just a bit of magic in the phone booth..
Then I called from Ohio on Christmas morning just to wish whomever a Merry Christmas. A lovely lady picked up and I just said "Merry Christmas!" She said Hello and same to you...I just said I didn't want to keep her from the magic but I wanted to wish her a blessed day and Merry Christmas. We chatted a minute and she said thanks for calling , that was neat and she would remember that special moment from her vacation....that was so sweet!!

Here's what I'm going to do on our Oct trip. I'll park myself at a table outside of the main Rose & Crown entrance. From there I'll call one of the booths when I see a young adult there, I'll say that the call is a contest for a Disney prize. I'll ask a simple Disney question, and when they answer correctly I'll tell them that they won a free drink at the R&C, just go see Carl to get their prize. Should be fun!

the lady that answered just arrived yesterday. Only got to Epcot a few whiles ago- just entered England and is having a blast.

I told her i was jealous as we are not going until 140 days from now and I sit and call phone booths in England to pass my time

When we were there a couple of years ago there was a young girl standing by the phone. We caught her mother's eye so that she was in on it and called the number. The mother encouraged the girl to answer the phone - She was so surprised to get a phone call from one of the fairies looking for Tinkerbell.

I am hoping my grandchildren will be there this fall - and I am hoping to line up some friends who (given a quick call) will call the numbers in character.

When I called just now I was handed off to 5 different people...
Each one wanted to talk about there trip and wanted to know how I got the number... they were all amazed I was calling from MA...
I think they forgot we have phones too!

I called last week! A woman answered and I said, "greetings from new York!" she was so sweet! She said it was horribly hot but they were having a great day!

I must have done something strange to my phone after that call, because every time I tried calling my voicemail after that, my phone would call the Epcot booth! I actually had to call Verizon to have it fixed!

My boys and I just called one of the Epcot phone booths and a young girl answered. We asked if she was having fun in Epcot, she said yes. Then we told her we were in Louisiana, missing WDW, and just calling to see if anyone would answer. We asked her where she is from and she said "New Jersey". We told her to have a fun vacation then we hung up. After hanging up I realized an internet friend of mine (friends from another Disney board) and her family are in WDW right now,they arrived today. It would be crazy if it was my friend's daughter we spoke with!!!!!!
