phobia question

Okay, it was over 80 degrees today. The lizards are awake and very active. When I step out my front door, I see them scurrying across the sidewalk and porch.

Sorry, OP. There is no way you are going to go to WDW and not see many lizards. I know that is not what you want to hear and I know it won't do any good to tell you that they are harmless. That being said. I stayed at WDW resorts many times before moving to Florida and never had a lizard in my room. We did have a little frog once.

I too am afraid of them. My mother calls them skinks, that is her "technical" term. I think I'm afraid of them because they pop up from no where and are very quick on their feet. Over the years I've become a little better because I know that they won't hurt me, they're just fast!

I hope you can overcome your fear and have a good time.:flower3:

Well, we just got home last night and I am thrilled to announce that I did not see ONE lizard!!! The weather was pretty chilly our first couple of days but it did warm up the last few and I still did not see any. There was one close call though - as we were walking off the Barnstormer in ToonTown my husband noticed a family video taping one that was around the corner from us. He quickly made me stop and look away. I saw the little girl and thought she was getting sick or something so I did not get nervous. Once it moved on it's merry way he let me walk on through. He also saw another one in adventure land but did not tell me until later.

That's awesome! So happy to hear it! :thumbsup2

If you leave a tip and a note for housekeeping everyday it might be a good incentive so they will close the door when cleaning. In the 13 trips I have made to disney the only time we had one in our room was in FW in the trailer homes. You couldn't go anywhere there without seeing them. Other than that they are so small it can be easy to overlook them at times. I mentioned the tip everyday because I would do anything when it means avoiding a phobia. I have a major phopia of hieghts. Nor more than 2 or three steps up on a step stool. And stairs, well I have been known to go down them while sitting on my butt, and steep narrow ones can give me a panic attack. I won't stay at POR because the beds are so high. I can't sleep like that. So I do simpasize with your phobia. Just have you DH scan seats for you in resteraunt and on park rides or give the kids the job. They will get a real kick out of protecting mom. They will feel important and learn to be braver at the same time. I wish you luck and remember to have fun.
